No - the VAR should be run by people with no football knowledge whatsoever. The VAR should not be making subjective decisions, so all it needs is someone (or something) with a complete knowledge of the rule book and the ability to apply them on a scientific basis.
:) They were on the bus home. I think this is still the only time this has happened. That said - I think a VAR check after the final whistle iresulting in a pen is within the rules.
Re. the Mitoma one - not sure what constitutes handball. I thought we were told it was the t-shirt line? The ball clearly hit his arm below the shoulder, but was above the 't-shirt' line. That said - the way Mitoma reacted was as thoough he was expecting it to be ruled out.
I think there was a bit of misconception due to our stile of play. Basically the 'fannying around at the back' to try and get their forwards to engage can look like time-wasting to those who aren't used to it. And once the crowd were making a fuss about it, the ref was influenced.
Just dont go anywhere near Curry's. They're fine when things work, but if anything arrives faulty, they just endlessly give you the runaround until you basically give up.
Well I was born up there, within spitting distance of Selhurst - thankfully my parents understood the cruelty of it, and brought me to Sussex at an early age, before evil influences could take hold.
I actually would - yes. If I had reached the level of a premier league/efl ref, that is my profession and I'm going to referee the game on its merits - where I live just isn't going to come into it.
Its just not practical given the concentration of refs from the Manchester area. I genuinely believe that the refs will not have any local bias - their professionalism is more important to them. There are good refs and crap refs, which makes it important that they are rotated, but I dont think...
I dont get this. How are people looking at this image and seeing it all outside the box? That is the var image that was shown. We didnt get away with one, it was the correct decision, although it was close.
To be fair a bit of paper isn’t going to hurt anyone. The ref made a mistake in reporting it - just made it a thing.
Remember a game years ago probably in the 70s where a ref made a big thing about a ‘phantom whistler’ in the crowd and kept stopping the game to try and find the villain. The...
So (and apologies if this has been discussed - cant be bothered to look), if Sanchez handball was given (and it was very close), would he have walked? or just a free kick, as obviously it would have been accidental?
I saw it from the top floor of one of the houses. Having failed to get in, as luck would have it, my brother in law had a key to one of the houses which was being renovated and he was working on it.
