I think that's the idea. I'll find it hard to commit to 30 minute games - if we each have 6 games in the group format that's 3 hours I've got to find and set aside which is tricky.
Yes, they'll take longer but on the other hand you can be playing all 6 games at the same time. You can then dip...

A break is always going to be on someone’s turn though. Even if you hide the board, they may remember it and effectively get extra time to consider their next move, surely?

Come and join the dark/slow side :)
They've even got a 'cover' site www.chessatwork.com that accesses exactly the same games/logins/etc but is black and white for those who want to be more subtle at the desk :lolol:
Moves rarely take that long, but having the option is good. Couple of reasons really:
1 - Life/work is busy; I don't want to play a game for weeks/months only to find I've lost the game from a winning position on move 45 just because I couldn't take 5 minutes that day to make a move.
2 - I...
That's the point, isn't it - RL's 'argument' against 'breeding machines' could easily be written about surrogacy without the sexuality of the parents being brought into it.
If the question is "should we allow a woman to be a surrogate?", surely your answer should either be Yes or No, and not...
I'm in. Might be tricky to commit to times for 'live' games now and again but for longer/correspondence games I'm all over it. I've joined the chess.com club.
I'm not sure I'm very good, though...
"We must build a United States of Europe" - words of Winston Churchill himself. The full speech is here if anyone's got a lot of time on their hands this afternoon: http://www.churchill-society-london.org.uk/astonish.html
On the basis of this speech, I'd say it's almost certain that Sir Winston...
Just had a go on Fishy myself... it's bonkers! I had us on 36 points, which was enough to finish 15th. Palace go down, only picking up 5 points between now and the end of the season. Chelsea finish second, picking up another 29 points from their remaining 11 games - almost catching Man City who...
Anyone remember the trip to Stoke in 2004/5 when we lost 2-0 to 2 Stoke penalties in about 3 minutes?
I'm sure I remember an ABSOLUTELY BLATANT handball straight after that should really have been a 3rd Stoke penalty in 5 minutes, but the ref didn't give it? I remember being convinced his...
Leaving St Mary's with 0 points will not be a disaster in itself... but Southampton gaining 3 points will be. If we lose tonight, then even if we beat West Ham on Saturday, the absolute best case is that we match Saints' return for the week - with 2 out of 4 of the "winnable" run gone.
It won't...
Not interested; he's the wrong type of striker. We've got a pacy type in Sam Baldock, and it's a big strong Andy Carroll type front-man we need.
(Note: this post may not be entirely serious)
Tricky, isn't it?
Talking about this as being the last fortnight of a one-month window isn't quite right for us. The last 2 weeks out of 4 doesn't sound bad... but this is the last 2 weeks out of five months' transfer activity if we believe what we're told. 90% of the time available to us to...
One more pleading voice here... could anyone PM me a link to a way to watch? I'm on a Mac rather than a PC in case that makes any difference...
Thanks in advance
Similar happened in this office... until it got out that one of the girls involved in the mocking spent £900 on a handbag last weekend. I won't be buying an iPhone X, but I don't see splashing out on having the latest phone as a status symbol as any different from splashing out on [insert any...
