Coincidentally, following on from recent gig reminiscing, my old mate Simon put up a picture on Facebook of flyers he'd held on to since the early 80's. Some real crackers here, (and some shit involving The Exploited and GBH, both of who I loathed).
Rob, the singer from The Sperm Wails, had a later band called Chester who I really liked. I put them on in Brighton at the end of the last century with The Norma Jeans and Anal Beard to about 30 listless punters. Their album 'Malpleasurability' has some really great tracks on it but there's...
I just played Looking for Lewis and Clarke via YouTube funnily enough. The manager of the branch of Virgin I worked in was a big fan of the 'Paisley Underground' and was an avid reader of Bucketful of Brains too. I used to sneer at him from over the top of my MaximumRocknRoll.
Arf! They're playing down Brighton way again in the next few weeks too. Should've called it a day about 38 years ago.
The Adam & Eve flyers do have some good stuff on there - mainly the anarcho groups and hardcore bands like The Stupids and Ripcord. Bands like GBH and Broken Bones just plodded...
Let's Active always seemed to be one of those Americans bands who all the critics loved, but left me (for the main) cold. See also Green on Red, The Rain Parade, The Long Ryders etc.
Interestingly, Mitch Easter now resembles a glam Arthur Scargill.
Some great stuff there, and 7 nights a week.
Did you frequent Adam & Eves at all? Someone posted these on a Facebook group recently; lotsa punk - some decent, some crap - and a sprinkling of indie with The Brilliant Corners, Primitives, Bogshed, Happy Mondays, The Shrubs and so on. Oh yeah...
I've been having probs with NSC for weeks now, unfortunately. Always seems to be linked to ads, and takes ages for the page to load, or it leaves it hanging. Android, Chrome and IE.
A few of you might be interested in a Facebook group all about the Brighton and Sussex music scene over the past 50 years or so. Highly recommended and full of top music nostalgia from all genres.

I have to admit, I'm surprised to see The Aislers Set so high on the bill.
I often enjoy the smaller bands more than the 'names' and this year will be hoping to see Expert Alterations, City Yelps, Soda Fountain Rag, Charla Fantasma, Vacaciones, and Two White Cranes from those announced so far...
My old mucker Ajay has started making his gig recordings available via YouTube. Rough and ready for sure, but all with a certain charm.
Bands so far include Bogshed, Wedding Present, The Bodines, Jesus & Mary Chain, The Membranes, The Waltones, Big Black, and plenty more to come...
