I don't see Alzare as replacing Caicedo either, but I do see him playing that role in the games that Caicedo / his replacement doesn't play.
According to Wyscout data, Alzate has a very similar profile to Caicedo:
Alzate and Sarmiento play completely different positions, so I don’t think they’re related at all. Alzate is a deep lying central midfielder and Sarmiento is an attacking midfielder/winger.
You think so? I'd say we're even more stacked in midfield with Gross, Dahoud, Gilmour, Lallana, Ayari, Alzate + Caicedo/replacement. I can't really see a scenario where Milner starts in a midfield 2 for us
A left-sided centre back that can ideally play left back too. I would expect Milner to play at RB and LB when needed. That would give us:
Veltman
Lamptey
Dunk
JPVH
Webster
NEW LCB/LB
Estupinan
Milner
We don't need more than 8 defenders, even with the extra fixtures. Any more defenders and the...
Even £55m would have been a disappointing figure.
Feels like the positive reaction to Mac Allister signing a new contract before the world cup was a fallacy, as we could have got £35m for a World Cup winner even had he not signed the contract.
As has been said by others, the fee does matter as...
Weird one, as he seems perfectly suited to De Zerbi's formation with two deep-lying midfielders, he's just blocked by Mac Allister and Caicedo. However, given they're both on 4 bookings, you'd expect Gilmour to come in for two games they miss, plus Charlton (A) plus Boro (A). That's probably 4...
Given Koivisto and Brazil weren't in the group of players announced as released back in May, can only assume they rejected new contracts from us to sign for Liverpool and Spurs respectively?
Pretty relieved that's all over to be honest. Great player for us, but a lot of hassle off the pitch. Hoping he does well at Spurs so the overall fee grows to £35m.
Would much rather see Burnley go down. Burnley go down, and with their financial problems, it'd be unlikely that they come up again. Leeds go down, they'll come back up again next year.
Östigård sent off, seemingly for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity.
Edit: watching the reply it must have been for the headlock - what was he thinking?!
