So you know how much he was offered. I assume you've never moved company then and stayed loyal to the same place all your life. Football fans are so illogical.
Pleased. If you ignore the past with us/Palace, we'd be happy with another option up front and a player who has scored goals at this level. If we sign another striker (who will be the key signing) and a couple of defenders, I think we're well placed to challenge again.
You are just arguing for arguments sake. Pretty much every season in recent years, we would have gone up with 89 points. We strengthened at Christmas and were top two in the second half of the season. Murray scored three goals in 12 games last season so hardly hasn't played for almost a season...
I think Murray is the Zamora replacement to compete with Hemed as the target man and we'll get a new first choice striker to play alongside one of them, with Baldock as back up. It may well be that this striker is a statement of intent. I just don't understand how we're screwed if we don't...
It depends what he wants. He has made a lot of money since then and still lives in Brighton. He has a choice of staying at Bournemouth and not getting games or going elsewhere and we're his best option. I imagine he'll be paid a decent wage but it won't break the bank.
Says who? Hemed got 17 goals. Why won't he match that? He'll have experience of the Championship behind him. Baldock only got four goals (and WIlson five) so matching that won't be hard and I'm confident Murray could get the seven goals that Zamora did. We also have more goals from midfield now...
Yes, I agree which is why I put that at the end of my point. However, since Christmas, when we signed Knockaert and Skalak, we scored a lot of goals. The shortage of goals happened before they joined and with a massive injury list. And, during the second half of the season, we missed Zamora for...
Yes, and Murray would be an alternative to Hemed. I'm not talking about 12 goals in three games. I'm talking about 13 wins, 6 draws and 1 defeat in the last 20 league games. Yes, we drew a lot of games in the first half of the season but, once we signed Knockaert and Skalak, we won a lot more of...
Why not? We clearly didn't offer him a good enough deal when he left and Palace did. That's football. He never celebrated a goal against us for any of his clubs and has never criticised the club.
What an odd statement. How are we screwed without a statement of intent signing? We came third last year without this 'statement of intent' signing. We came third with a points total that would generally have got you up despite a horrendous run of injuries mid season. Alongside that, we signed...
I find it odd that some fans are so keen to claim Zamora was a failure. It feels very odd. There's no way Zamora was on £20-30K a week and he had a good season for us. Murray may well be an upgrade on Zamora but it seems odd to put Zamora down.
That was great too. It was great having him back and really contributing for most of the season. While Murray wasn't as popular at Albion, he had a brilliant last season with us and has regularly scored goals since. It would be a good signing and I'd definitely welcome him back.
We've lost two strikers and so we will sign two strikers. One was a replacement for Zamora to compete with Hemed as the target man. That is Murray, if he signs. The other replaces Wilson and may well, from the sound of it, break our transfer record. That will give us decent options up front.
I think the fact Zamora was out for the last few months has tainted memories of some people. Personally wasn't sure when he signed but thought he was superb for us for much of the season. Offered experience and quality up front. Think his winner at Leeds was one of my favourite Albion moments ever!
I'm pretty sure we're not going to break the bank for him though. If he wants to come then he may have agreed a deal and taken a pay cut. He'll get more goals than any of our strikers last season except Hemed so it adds further goals to the team and I'm optimistic we will break the bank on...
