Forgive my ignorance but how will we have the last laugh over them if Murray signs? They took him off us when he was 27, he scored 30 odd goals for them in their promotion season, they flogged him on to Bournemuff for something like £5m and he has hardly featured for them since. They got the best years out of him and now he is 32 and had a few injuries as well. I certainly wouldn't call that having the last laugh :eek:

True m. I just meant if he comes back to us it will seriously piss a lot of them off (I've already seen it when he was linked in January) so in that respect is what I meant. Maybe they will get the same sicky feeling when they hear he's scored for us - like we did when he banged his 10th peno of the season in for them to make his stats look better ;) I do think they sold him too early though & he was better than any striker they had last season - again I've seen several palace fans say this too. Don't think they got £5 mil for him - maybe that was with certain add ons but we'll never know for sure in that...

Fair enough but again I doubt whether Palace fans care if we get Murray or not, they have just bought Andros Townsend and Mandanda (sp) and have just bid £25m for Benteke and are on the verge supposedly of signing James Tomkins for £12m. I expect their fans in the main couldn't care less where Murray ends up. I certainly wouldn't

We'll lets not break the bank for some 32 yr old has been then. GM is history now and time to move on. He like many other players who love being bounced around picking up signing on fees as it swells their bank balance. **** him.

I'm pretty sure we're not going to break the bank for him though. If he wants to come then he may have agreed a deal and taken a pay cut. He'll get more goals than any of our strikers last season except Hemed so it adds further goals to the team and I'm optimistic we will break the bank on another striker. I don't understand some of the negativity on this thread. Just because we made a mistake in letting him go doesn't mean we shouldn't sign him.

Not sure it would piss many of us off, the vast majority of us wish him nothing but good luck. I just want to see him playing again, though I don't think Brighton is the best place for him.
If he does go to the championship though then I will be on him to be top scorer, especially if he has good wingers around him.
You can never have the last laugh regarding Murray, he came on a free and got us promoted. We then even made money when we sold him(we should have kept him though). Even if he got you promoted next season that would be four years and roughly half a billion pounds after us.

Anyway back to Glenn Murray I personally think he would be a very astute signing

Great. I was just thinking what this thread needed was the opinion of a Palace fan. Yawn.

We won't be breaking the bank if he signs, and anyway he won't be the main signing this summer.

Trust me - many do. Seen it in Twitter etc loads of times in Jan. But yes they've done well with their signings - as wrong as it is that a 2x admin cheat should be able to sign players for such sums ;)

Can tell from your defence you're gonna be GUTTED if this goes through - thanks for that

PS - this thread is nothing to do with palace so kindly don't post :)

If the club get the same return from Murray as it got from Zamora they'll be no promotion next season either.

To be fair to BZ, he was OK, no more.

Zamora had a better goals per minute played rate than Andre Gray last season. (136 mins per goal to 141)
Just going to post that Chailey. I would be disappointed if Murray was our main signing but playing the same role as Zamora, he'd be great.

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
To be fair to BZ, he was OK, no more.

Rewriting history. It wasn't just an ok goal he scored at Elland Road. He was also leading the goal of the season votes, until Skalak scored his beauty.
The goal against Huddersfield where he cleared it out of the area to sprint down the pitch to score. If you think that is just ok, I suggest you pick some rich Premier League club, as you'll never be satisfied watching Brighton.

Wow that's a low bar, care to tell us how many minutes each of them played?

BZ was fantastic with what he did, on and off the pitch.

Had he been available to play his part throughout all of March and April who knows how the season might have ended.
I do know the Albion were crying out for just one or two bits of skill, guile, 'craft' and composure at the sharp end of the season, and came up short.

I'd be amazed if the team decide:-

Tomer
Baldock
Murray
Loanee

was the way to go next season.
Isn't that the definition of insanity?

I think the fact Zamora was out for the last few months has tainted memories of some people. Personally wasn't sure when he signed but thought he was superb for us for much of the season. Offered experience and quality up front. Think his winner at Leeds was one of my favourite Albion moments ever!

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
So presumably if he ever does sign, he is the direct replacement for Zamora (with the injury issues and maybe the occasional goal) but without the love?

I thought we were after younger, quicker and more interested?
