What CPU would people reccommend? Is P4 too outdated now? Should I be looking at other options instead. I'm mightily confused with all this computer business. I've never brought my own one before!

Yeah, my experiences with laptops have not been good ones. Me and my ex shared two Dell laptops, and they both blew up after about a year! :down:
