Clueless as usual. This thread was started by someone questioning the form of our wingers in the second half of the season and saying their form had got worst in 2017. Considering March hardly played in 2016, it is complete drivel to suggest his form has dropped since the turn of the year.
And...
I'd be very surprised if Stockdale goes now. I think he was holding back as he wants Premier League football. I think it is unlikely he will leave now we can almost certainly offer that (and probably as first choice). I don't see him as the sort of player who would be happy going to Chelsea...
Think he signed permanently for Reading last summer. Would be a good option but, as with all Championship players, would cost a lot more than real value.
Then why do we play in the Championship? What is the purpose if you don't want to be in the top two and are only hoping to finish top six to lose in the play offs.
As for a leading team in the Championship, if we miss out this year then the chances of doing this will reduce. The players aren't...
Nobody is saying there is room for sentiment. What people are saying is threads like this should wait until the end of the season. These players have all given everything this season and the least they deserved is fans not deciding which of them to get rid of before we're even promoted.
Seems odd to say that March has been far less effective since the turn of the year when he only had one start in 2016. How exactly has he been less effective.
And they've all had good games in 2017 and have contributed. Not sure why the need to pick out the wingers. The main issue may be that...
I think that the thread from then is the more interesting one. Can't be bothered to find it but there were loads on here who would have sacked Hughton after his first half season and left us looking for a fourth manager in a year (probably the same people who were laughing at Derby for sacking...
I think futures will be confirmed before then. It may even be before the end of the season if we go up over the next couple of weeks so there won't be much time to debate it (except whether we agree or disagree with the decisions). I just think it is best to leave it until we're up and the title...
This is exactly my point (but put much better)
Re BFG, he may have been on the list a month or so ago but can't believe we'd let him go now. He's been brilliant recently
That may well be true but, until it is confirmed, we need these players to be giving their all and shouldn't be talking about who to get rid of in my view. Even more so when there is a title to be won!
But the point is we still need seven points to be certain. These players you are talking about getting rid of in the summer (especially BFG) will be needed to get those points. It is very poor timing. We are not up yet. It is not being pessimistic. It is a fact. We still need to get those points.
Agree it's all about opinions and I am sure we'll be linked with a lot of players in the summer if we go up. I don't think Leadbitter will be one of them and, even if we are interested, I think Middlesbrough will be determined to keep hold of their squad and will have the money to do so.
Why do this? Surely we can let the squad enjoy the hopeful promotion before discussing who to get rid of.
For what it's worth, I'd be very surprised to see BFG go now given his recent form and we need three keepers so I expect Maenpaa will be offered a new deal along with Stockdale and a third...
Absolutely. Easy to forget the early days now but without Dick Knight buying the club, we'd not have had the chance for that.
Tony Bloom has been an incredible owner for the club. He has made one mistake in appointing Hyppia but he has made up for that with the most incredible next appointment...
Difference is that Defoe is proven in the Premier League and Pickford has been Sunderland's other best player and looks a real prospect (for the record we won't sign even of them). Leadbitter has made 13 starts for Middlesbrough this season according to their website. Hardly a regular player for...
I think there is a place for quality Championship players and giving them a go. Not sure Nakhi Wells is the right player but Cairney would be. I fear he'd be too expensive for us though even if Fulham don't go up.
Wednesday have spent far more than us over the last few seasons. Maybe the others haven't but look at the likes of Derby, Villa, Norwich and Newcastle. The last three may have not lost that much money due to parachute payments but the cost of their squads is so much more than us. And we are...
