Based on average match ratings I know, but really harsh on Burn who in my opinion is one of the reasons for our upturn in form in recent weeks. He had the worst game of his life against Wolves, but putting him at left back in a four against Traore with Trossard providing nominal cover in front...
We've been turning the corner ever since Hughton was sacked. It's a very long corner with plenty of obstacles on the way, to stretch the analogy.
For me the most obvious change in recent weeks has been the development of a solid back 3 in Webster, Dunk, Burn playing that low block to keep...
Bissouma needed that time to develop. Potter didn't play him much in his first half season, just like Hughton, but clearly the work was done on the training ground and then bang. I didn't really see it coming, but obviously in hindsight the club knew he was special to spend 10 million on him, he...
They have only been 14 occasions of a player scoring 20+ goals for a team who finished outside the top 6 in the Premier league since it started. Only 8 for a team who finished outside the top 8. And that list incudes Shearer and Le Tissier. So no, guess we don't.
Mane got 10 in his first premier league season, so did Maupay. Mane got 11 in his second premier league season, Maupay has 7 so far in the first half of his second season. Mane was 8 months younger at the same stage. So Neal is on the right track
Of course Connolly had improved since GP has arrived. And of course improvement in all these players is in part down to the player themselves. But we want more more more!
Of course finishing can improve. Nothing happens overnight, neither Maupay nor Connolly had played a minute of Premier...
What happened to Lingard is a mystery, going from the World Cup to where he is now. Alli too. And Loftus Cheek to a degree. From those heady days of a world cup semi final to where they are now in 2 short years.
There are many players who have clearly improved under Potter and the entire coaching unit at all levels at Brighton (and at the clubs they've been loaned to) . Bissouma, White, Webster, Burn, March Mac Allister, Sanchez, Connolly and I can go on. But we want more more more!
I believe it will, yes. I'm not 100% confident, no. But Potter is doing the right things, building from the back, making us hard to beat, and I do believe it will eventually get there across the team.
For me the key is Potter's own development as a coach and manager, he's not the finished...
What happens to us as a team, when we play in a match that we really need to win, and we then embarass ourselves, like tonight. It has happened so many times over the years, and yet when we play sides like Spurs, Chelsea and Manchester United, we play above ourselves, and the luck is against us...
I like it when we play two strikers, but haven't done that for a while. Last night probably called for it, but we have been a lot tighter at the back with our current formation, I don't know
I don't believe for a minute we'd have no home wins if the Amex was full every game. We'd have won last night with fans, I'm certain of it.
What I struggle to comprehend is the majority of people on this thread saying there would have been boos all game from 'the fans'. Are we not fans too? I...
