[Albion] Do we have the most 'local' team in the Premier League?

A team in the midlands might pinch it as long as they have a few English Players. Leicester might pinch it.

I'd love it, LOVE it, if someone gave birth in a toilet at the Amex, and he grew up to play for BHA.

(0 miles).

God help anyone that was born in the gents toilet in the West Upper. :eek:

I know we hate queue jumping in this country but I would like to think our female fans would make an exception for someone about to give birth !!! A bit of Sussex moaning about the situation would be fine though.

Shirley we could have a name for said baby born at the Amex :shrug:
Say Harveys Barber Bloom???

Is this why Maty Ryan and Mooy were shipped out: to get the mileage down??

I'm not going to bother looking at anyone else's squad to compare, but based on the following criteria:

Using only players named in the first team PL squad, and who have appeared in a first team fixture this season

How far from your ground were your players born?

I've kept it realistic, and only chosen genuine first team options (could easily have slotted in Sanders (Horsham) for example). This is the best we can come up with, I think:

-----------------------------------------------Walton (Wadebridge, 196 miles from the Amex)
Lamptey (Hillingdon, 51) / Veltman (Ijmuiden, 233) / Dunk (Brighton, 4) / Webster (Chichester, 28) / March (Eastbourne, 19)
-------------------------------Alzate (Camden, 49) / White (Poole, 81) / Lallana (St.Albans, 65)
---------------------------------------Wellbeck (Manchester, 204) / Maupay (Versailles, 175)

A total for the XI of 1,105 miles

I'd be surprised if anyone can beat it. Burnley or Palace perhaps the most likely?

And yes, Veltman was born closer to the Amex than Dan Burn (303)
In our usual 4-4-2:

Peacock-Farrell = Darlington = 58 miles

Bardsley = Salford = 21
Mee = Sale = 25
Tarkowski = Manchester = 22
Taylor = York = 49

McNeil = Rochdale = 13
Westwood = Nantwich = 51
Stephens = Bolton = 17
Brownhill = Warrington = 31

Barnes = Bath = 167
Rodriguez = Burnley = 0.

total = 454 miles.

Surprise !!! :)

If you let us have Barnes back your mileage would be much improved

Yeah - not REALLY surprised. I did name you as the most likely, after all.

We're very cosmopolitan. No-one, however unfortunate their background, is barred. We even have a southerner, and they don't get more unfortunate than that. :ascarf:

Yes, that's true. A veritable RAINBOW of colours and backgrounds!

For the youg'uns a little bit of football trivia

9 of the 11 players that won the European Cup in 1967 for Celtic were born within 10 miles of Celtic Park

Do you still have to be a Basque to play for Bilbao?
