With respect to Ben White (whose loan pathway worked out very well) he had not played as many first team games or started with any regularity at international level as Caicedo.
My comment in regard to Biss replacement was in response so suggestions on this thread a loan at Beerschot would...
I am not questioning the policy of loaning players for development I am questioning if this is a suitable level for a 19 year old with 10 international caps who came to us highly rated and was expected to compete for a first team place.
As I posted above if he is to be a Biss replacement would...
Manchester United do use Antwerp it is like a graveyard for the terminally shite

Goalkeepers are a completely different animal in terms of development.
Let’s try another approach how would you feel if Brighton just announced they were selling Biss and his replacement was being signed from Beerschot?
Read my post again it is the international recognition at 19 combined with the reports from South America that this guy was the real deal that is surprising where he was ended up. This guy was on man utds radar it is therefore a little surprising the level we have sent him to.
I am not disputing a loan being a good option for his development just can’t see where he is going being a stepping stone to replacing Biss as a PL starter. Feels like a significant jump to me which is why I was expecting a loan somewhere stronger
Caicedo has 10 caps for Equador which suggests his starting level should be a bit higher than the players we were giving experience to in the lower leagues. Will have to trust the club on this one but someone who on the surface looked to be coming over to compete for a first team position is...
The club see the lad more than we do but the only shock for me is this was someone who was touted by Tim Vickery and others as waltzing into our first team. So whilst I am not against a loan to develop a player this move hardly smacks of a level that is going to prepare him for starts in the PL.
A realistic aim in a transitional season but I am still amazed how much slack Disney gets from your lot. All this time in the league with the buckets of PL cash and the club is someone left with an enormous rebuild on the pitch and crumbling infrastructure off it.
Genuine question is anyone...
Can’t speak for the players character as I do not know him (although the Albion do take these things into account and when scouting) but this one was reported as our offers being less than Benficas valuation. That is fine if that is the case and we miss out. We are all guessing here but my own...
Seriously??!! The club are not going to come out and say who they lost out on are they but the Nunez approaches have been well reported by reputable press (including our locals) and overseas so trying to claim the club were not in for him over two summer windows is fantasy
Not sure what point you are trying to make the players you quote were all not seen as good enough by the club so have been moved on that is not in dispute by anyone.
What is in dispute is we have not replaced any of those players with players that are good enough and are now going into a PL...
Don’t the 1901 people get an allocated car parking space whether they use it or not? My guess is the Uni is allocated enough spaces for 1901 but a lot probably don’t use them meaning empty spaces
The bloke in the blue t shirt and shaved head jumped the advertising and was on edge of pitch turned around and got back in crowd, this was the stewards trying to pull him back out
Just outfought across the pitch today they were first to everything and had good movement in attacking areas. No complaints did not deserve anything from the game
