Decided on two long slow runs this weekend. On Saturday I parked up at Sussex Uni and ran up to the South Downs Way and ran through Ditchling Beacon and beyond. Some stunning views on a perfect running day, sadly no phone with me to get any pictures. Ticked off just over 11 miles and 1,109...

Indeed I know that speed wise I am the snail, but happy to be so. After doing my first marathon in 2011 I very nearly knocked it all on the head. I did that for a specific fundraising campaign. Many will know I said never again, and I almost didn't. I am so glad that in 2013 the Martlets...

Definitely worth booking Marathons early, I did Manchester as soon as they were on sale and paid £45. I did the same with Brighton by signing up at the Expo the day before the 2019 event! I have entered the ballot for New York and if successful the entry fee is $350 - ouch!

I decided to join in with the NYD double madness! I was pleased with 24.04 at Hove Prom, held up in the first mile due to the 833 runners, my first mile was 20 seconds slower than my last! I then walked up to Hove Park and struggled in at 26.25, the start was very slow with 859 runners and my...

Me and a couple of mates are trying to do at least a marathon or a half in a different new country each year. So far I have done Marathons in Iceland (Reykjavik), Cyprus and Norway (Tromso) plus HMs in Bosnia (Sarajevo) & Bulgaria (Sofia). Always amazed at the number of GB runners at the events...

    [Football] The England game tonight

I will be going, downloading the tickets to the phone has worked so far for our group, lets hope it all works at the ground. It looks identical to the way they did games in the Nations Cup finals in Portugal, lets hope it works better than that to actually get in the ground. Tickets should be...

So my first race as a Pace runner at the Bexhill Poppy HM on Saturday. Loved it. It was nice to run a race not at full tilt, take in what was going on around me and worry more about others surviving the run and not me. It was 2 x an 8k loop and 1 x 5k loop on the seafront and the weather...

I am going to be sensible (for once) and not do the PR in the morning. This is a link to the LIRF course, its a bit expensive IMHO but as the running club will cover the cost happy to do it (£140)...

Is anyone running the Poppy HM in Bexhill on Saturday? I am running as the 2.20 pace runner, I have paced a few times at Park Run but never in a proper race. Looking forward to it and hope I don't let anybody down. My last few HMs have been around 1.55/1.57 so 2.20 should be comfortable. Any...

Ohhhh Ohhhhh, waves hands, jumps up and down, ohhhhh ohhhh I am on 1,128 miles. I think this should drive the league tables! That would turn it on its head for me. The SNAIL is finally coming home! Now waiting for knocky1 to beat me by a mile at 23.59.59 on 31.12.2019

I saw a video of Littlehampton at 8.30, it was wild and yes it was cancelled just before it was due to start. Hove Park was delightful, the exposed corner by the Goldstone was bleak, by the basketball court it was turning into a small river across the path. I was amazed 223 brave souls turned...

I was a lot worse yesterday compared to Sunday! However I went for a swim and a sauna last night and feel pretty much back to "normal" today. I did look at the BH 2020 entry this morning whilst having a coffee. A mate is interested in the Snowdonia marathon which is the same weekend next...

Saturday was an amazing day. The Beachy Head Marathon is epic, I absolutely loved it (and hated it at the same time :-) ) . My Garmin recorded 3,754 feet of climbing, but well worth it for the stunning views, the great stewards and pit stops and the fellow runners who around me where there to...

[Albion] Rows of empty seats in Doha

I went to Doha when England played Brazil in a friendly in 2009. I go to away games to explore places, but there is TBH very little to do there. We went to the sand dunes in a 4x4 and petrol was 13p a litre. You couldn't go far because somewhere in the sand is the boarder with Saudi Arabia...
