Results are out. 22.21 officially (I'll take that!) and 78th overall. Thanks again to Simgull for accurate pacing and a decent chat before my breath went!

I can take back table duties from Ninja Elephant now. Just need page number for latest table.

Bottom of page 943. There are two tables on the page, the bottom one is the one you want!

I dominated around East Brighton parkrun yesterday, there was some chatter amongst some of the boys at the startline about wanting to get away and them racing for 1 and 2. Well, obviously, that woke me up. I sprinted away from the line and I was ahead within 10 metres, and stayed there the whole way around. The big mouths were racing for 3rd and 4th and didn't have a barcode between them. I wasn't expecting to break 19 minutes, I've not done too much running this week. I've had a bit of a foot issue, but it felt fine as I was popping around in the end, with a gentle sprint in the final 0.1 mile, I was able to sneak an 18:58. Very pleased with the result and performance.

I'm still training without an endgame in mind, the Brighton 10k has sold out so I'll try and find myself an inherited entry or I'll miss out. I will probably do the next 2 Cross Country races and ultimately, this will be a base of fitness going into Brighton Marathon 2020.

Computer says no. I'm on page 1903. Post up the table and I'll update and takeover. Good clerical skills in my absence and even better running.

I've entered a race and I'm stupidly excited (haven't done one for ages). A Phoenix marathon next weekend and aiming of a bit of this morning's consistency with the miles:

Great running Bobkin 9/11 I got it a bit late. Tremendous tribute.

I’m envious! 7 from 11 bang on 9:00 and just a 2 second +/- deviancy on the other 4.

I have no chance of matching that without Kipchoge’s laser beam to follow (if it works at half speed for me).

So my first race as a Pace runner at the Bexhill Poppy HM on Saturday. Loved it. It was nice to run a race not at full tilt, take in what was going on around me and worry more about others surviving the run and not me. It was 2 x an 8k loop and 1 x 5k loop on the seafront and the weather slowly got worse as the day went on. For the HM it was a bit breezy and hats off to the handful who ran in full army gear carrying 23kg backpacks! There was a small group running with me at 2.20 and we all encouraged the other runners as you kept seeing the same people on the loops. I told those running with me the plan was to average about @10.30 a mile to blank looks as they ALL working in KMs, so once we worked it out everyone was happy, so I was looking for a finish time of around 2.18. Its a nice flat course with just one slight incline as you come back slightly off the seafront for one small section, I quite enjoyed that as takes away from the long flat stretches. We crossed the finish line in 2.17.52 so it was a big relief to get people home as planned. One runner from Polegate Plodders got a PB and was all chocked up at achieving that time, they said they never believed they could go sub 2.20. I was just as happy running to help others getting great times and felt as chuffed as when I get a PB. One of our running club also ran with me which was good as made the time fly by as all our group chatted the time away. I would definitely be up for being a pace runner again. I finally managed the old mantra of running the second half of a race slightly quicker than the first half, not something I often achieve if I am going flat out!

That reads to me like a very accomplished run - not to mention a selfless and public-spirited one. I note the reference to a negative split. Like you (and most others?) I try to run an even pace* but end up fading, even on a 5k. By accident and not design I managed a very rare negative spilt of my own yesterday and while the time (for 6 miles) was within a second of my previous effort, I was much happier finishing relatively strongly rather than running on empty.
If I could actually run with some discipline I might try this in an 'event'...……..if only as I'll do anything to prevent knocky1 stealing my AG silver for this season!

*the masterclass of Greg Bobkin is also noted!

You're still bookies favourite by a long shot.

I have a few plans in hand myself. Starting tomorrow a three month swim membership at the King Alfred to turn the flabby core into a six pack and build up arm power. I'm a week into a 95% monthly reduction in alcohol intake till near Xmas. Then the master plan is to use your son and Jacques as pacers ensuring I set off at a pace that will inevitably decrease mile by mile in my Roger Bannister type bid for glory or failure.

In the real world I've needed 2 days rest after Saturday's XC. Body recovery time is certainly much slower than when I was a lad in my early 50's. It's hard to balance hard training and racing. Hence the introduction of swimming.

Good pacing Mr Blobby

Where the **** have the AG %ages gone on the latest Parkrun results? We're finished @GNT and soistes

Panic over. I've found them by going compact rather than detailed on the table. Parkrun has become institutionally ageist.

XC results out. 143 out of 170 ish. Better than my last outing in February.
The stats are grim as I entered the 60+ group with 7 well over 60s thrashing me and 1 ****** over 70.
The positives are that the 5 younger runners, who overtook me up the final hill, all got taken out on the downhill dash to the finish. Plus gaining 2" on good old Dave the Vegan is always worth a day out as well.

Really enjoyed it and getting ready for the next at Stanmer again 30 th November. It's great to see many current Parkrun winners coming in a third down the field. See you there Ninja but you will have to join a club.

II guess one advantage of being a fat middle-aged man who is quite late to running, is that improvement is pretty easy to come by!

To further illustrate that, I've just taken nearly a minute off my 5km PB (22:49 before, 21:57 today) when I was just out to stretch my legs properly.

I do feel tempted to try a Park Run for the first time, as the route for this run includes crossing the A27 twice which, at school rush hour, is quite hazardous - and I was quite close to getting knocked down on my second crossing! I imagine when I don't have these obstacles and have the incentive of other runners to chase, I've got at least another 30 seconds in me.

Splits were all over the place a bit at: 7:04 - 6:58 - 7:13 - 7:02,
