The more muscular you are the more your body needs oxygen. It’s why a bodybuilder physique a’la Bruno & Joshua ‘gas’ earlier in fights.
The best marathon runners are toned and not muscle bound.
Fury’s mid-rift is as much excess skin as fat.
When you’ve weighed close to 30 stone you get excess skin around that area. His skin around the gut expanded during his heaviest days.
It doesn’t look great, but it’s just baggy skin, I have no doubt he would have just a fraction of the gut without it.
Of course. Wilder resembles Mike Gatting.
Last night was probably the best heavyweight fight since Bowe vs Holyfield, perhaps even better. Buckets of flab can’t give and receive that amount of punishment for 30+ minutes without being very well conditioned.
Well done today and you’re right, great conditions. I couldn’t quite cash in with a PB, but got close enough to be pleased with my time.
I’d have probably gone better in the half with recent marathon training, but this was a good test.
A far better runner and coach once said to me once ‘if...
Would you put Fury ahead or Lennox Lewis or are you saying Lewis was produced in Canada rather than here?
I think boxing fans love Fury, just your grandma and aunty don’t, unlike Bruno and Cooper.
Nearly everyone I speak to would love to see Fury smash Joshua, but perhaps that tells you more...
I’d go for Goldfinger, just ahead of From Russia With Love.
The Spy Who Loved Me is by far the best Moore film and right up there with the very best Bond’s.
Dalton’s films are underrated as is Her Majesty’s Secret Service.
Brosnan got dealt a terrible hand. Could have been a good Bond, but...
I initially worked mine out to be as follows:-
42,195 (marathon in metres)+ 568 = 42,763 metres (the long course)
Using pace calculator worked out that my time (3:16:37) averages 7:24 per mile or 4:36 per kilometre over the long course.
Then using that average pace back over 42,195...
The way I’m reading it, is they will adjust times once they’ve decided on the fairest formula, which is also consistent with other marathons where the distance has been mis-measured.
I think they are offering a relatively easy calculation to give you an early guide.
My time would come in at...
I hope not to cycle this time around. It’s quite a dicey journey from Brighton.
I think, but I’d have to check, I got the gold medal the following year.
Looking forward to it, with the atmosphere and zero pressure for a time.
It’s a nice way to get back to long runs post marathon.
Hands...
I’m going to do the same with Barns Green HM in two weeks. No pressure, just enjoy the run. It helps too that it’s by far my favourite HM.
I remember meeting you there 3 or 4 years ago, are you in this year or does it clash with Surrey?
Well done to all the runners yesterday in the 10k and Ultra.
I heard yesterday morning the race organisers were still waiting for the license to come through. Pretty shocking that they are leaving it until the 11th hour.
The Mile markers were all quite accurate with my watch until mile 10...
Just read that Joe Root has confirmed Jos Buttler comes straight back into the team. Other than being vice captain I really don’t think he has done enough this year to walk straight back into the team.
Both Bairstow & Pope feel better bets to score runs in the middle order.
Hopefully we see...
