[Politics] The NSC 'up all night' election night *** OFFICIAL MATCH THREAD ***

Yup. For all Starmer going on about “If you want change you have to go out and vote for it” for 6 weeks solid, it seems like err, nobody really has.

I just don’t sense any enthusiasm or belief in Labour. They’re on course to get a lower vote share than Corbyn achieved. But win a landslide.

Agree. People are mistaken if they think defending the current electoral system will stem the tide. Better to confront the issues and national mood head on than burying your head in the sand and relying on FPTP, otherwise the numbers of disaffected and disenfranchised will just grow and grow...

100% this. The paradox of winning a massive majority but with virtually zero enthusiasm outside the core support.

If you look at what is about to happen in France, what is about to happen in the UK is no surprise, frankly. Wes Streeting just saying that “Labour have reconnected with the people.” I don’t get a sense of that at all tbh. I get more a sense that the Tory party has imploded.

This. And I’m surprised that anybody is surprised tbh.

Breathe easy @WATFORD zero - I've fixed it! And just in the nick of time!

Sadly, so far as your account is concerned, it’s all a bit academic unless I can somehow stop this auto ban kicking in at 21:59hrs ffs. I’m giving it everything I’ve got

[Politics] How busy are the Polling Stations where you live?

I hate all that, regardless of which party is doing it. If someone turned up at my house asking if I’d voted for their party because I’d previously said I would, I’d happily tell them to f*** off tbf.

[Politics] The NSC Poll of Polls 2024

A chap at work is off to Lyme Regis for a week's holiday tomorrow. I've told him to make sure he pays a visit to The Ship, where Dave and Alec will be on hand to assure him and his family of a warm welcome, and maybe ask if 'Crodo' is in, if he wants to know of the best place to play a little...

Drove past my local polling station at 8.15am. Deserted

[Politics] Liz Truss defending S.W. Norfolk seat July 4th.

This is exactly my thinking tbh. There is no way on earth she should get any more than 1 vote - and that's assuming even she can't be thick enough to f*** up voting for herself, which isn't a foregone conclusion by any means.

Cambridge Utd (home) using the same Umbro template… (Channelling some Fred Perry vibes with the collar design this season).

[Football] New Kits Thread - 24-25 Season

Thing is, by the time we have the white panel for the Amex logo, everybody will say it is just a big white 'H' (with some justification, tbf), similar to a design we had a couple of seasons back. (BUT- it is refreshing to see a Nike shirt without the dumb 'yoke' design they typically add to the...

Likewise. And the 'undecided' for me isn't just choice of candidate; I'm also undecided about whether I will cast a vote or not.

[Football] Who should replace Guehi in England's defence?

Doubtless there was an interesting conversation between Guehi and Trippier following that game. That woefully under-hit pass that Trippier played into Guehi that resulted in his yellow and subsequent auto-suspension for the next game was shocking at international level. I'd be fuming if I was Guehi.

[Politics] The NSC 'up all night' election night *** OFFICIAL MATCH THREAD ***

Yes, Rory Stewart is a very smart and very shrewd observer and I think it is pretty much an open secret that he is a former MI6 operator. It was an interesting observation he (and Alastair Campbell) made last night that we are on the cusp millions upon millions of people about to vote for what...
