I know there's some criticism of the smaller nations being involved, but it is an absolute joke there are only 10 teams in this 'world cup.' The ICC have proper messed it up.
Bitten on the shoulder which I noticed a couple of days after. Also got stung on the neck by a wasp in the square which wasn't ideal. Thank god we didn't get battered in the end.
Definitely. But I reckon if we speak Dutch we should be fine anyway, especially in the centre. I'll do the normal thing I do when friends visit me here when we try to get into clubs; shut up and let me do the talking. :lolol:
Lots of bars will turn you away as Albion supporters if they are showing the football. Will be plenty of Ajax supporters in Amsterdam who will also go to a bar...
Thought the actual organisation of this tournament (not the administration of it) has been brilliant by the way. Been to a couple of matches and have been mightily impressed.
Think the semis is a good run if we can get past Fiji.
Set to make his debut for The Netherlands. Will be the youngest keeper since 1967!

It's about 15 minutes from The Hague if that makes it any clearer to you.
Makes sense with the overseas players as most teams in the top 2 divisions now get 2/3 players in, including us. Although the Dutch government has just changed the rules about it so it's becoming increasingly harder...
Aaaah that would make a lot more sense. These days only Groen-Geel are about in Wassenaar and they only play Zami/Zomi cricket. We go there every year for a 2 day match actually which is always good fun.
Do you know where they're from? Sounds like they may have folded sadly as I don't recognise the name (even saying it out loud) unless you mean Qui Vive maybe? (Based in Amsterdam).
You aren't wrong about it not being mainstream and yes it is absolutely an elitist sport here. However, the KNCB and clubs are doing good work to get the new generation interested. There are lot of Indian kids who are bringing a new element to cricket in the country, Singh being one such player...
Right, and how do you suggest to improve competition? The money is crucial so players can focus full time on cricket.
In terms of the contests, The Netherlands beat South Africa last year. There is no West Indies in this years Cricket World Cup as they didn't qualify. The teams that are in the...
Pointless for whom? Smaller and associate nations need these games or cricket will only be for about 6 countries. This and the T20 world cup is lifechanging for nations such as The Netherlands due to the cash that comes with it. Central contracts can be handed out and more money can be pumped...
Also a good article about the Dutch's best player in the BBC: (Also a mention for my cricket club too)

If you google 'footballhighlights Reddit' and search for 'Brighton' (sort by new) there's a thread with us against Marseille. In it, there is a link to the game.
I would use adblock though.
