    [Albion] Sporting memories 1971 / 1972

And then there was the Geoff Sidebottom testimonial on May 11. A busy time with post-season testimonials, hopefully they had big enough squads to cope!

    [Albion] Sporting memories 1971 / 1972

This was the first season I was interested in football and cricket, I was 6. I remember going to the Villa game, the Rochdale game and a post-season testimonial for Geoff Sidebottom against Birmingham who had Francis and Latchford playing. We had only just moved down from the Midlands and both...

    [Cricket] Andrew Symonds RIP

I was there at the Boxing Day test in 2006 when Symonds scored a big hundred and Warnie took his 700th test wicket. Both gone too soon.

[Music] Eurovision - Liverpool To Host In 2023

Does anyone on here claim to have been at the Dome in ‘74? I remember watching it on TV - the half time act was the Wombles on the West Pier! I went to Gothenburg recently and when I said I was from Brighton the guy behind the bar was very impressed and gave us free drinks! ‘1974 - say no...

    [Albion] Archer Out

Around 20 years ago it was said he made £350m when Focus was sold to Wickes. He could have bought Albion a nice new stadium for that!

    [Albion] Amex ground plans.

What the ground desperately needs is a way of putting more seating, and I don’t mean hospitality areas, in the North Stand. Another tier, including something in the North East corner, in the section of the ground where pretty much all the noise and atmosphere in the ground comes from would...

[Humour] Bloody Kids With Their "Can I Have Your Shirt" Signs!

I used to collect football and cricket autographs as a kid. Only 2 I can immediately think of ever said no - Chris Old and Richie Benaud. Some went out of their way to sign, and I’d (surprisingly) give Geoffrey Boycott an honourable mention here.

    [Travel] Winchester; your tips…

I lived there for a few years. Lovely board walks over the water meadows or from the cathedral round past the Bishop’s Palace. Hyde Abbey, Hyde gate Winchester Barracks, Peninsula Barracks is nice just to wander round the square, just past Westgate (near the St James’ pub, my old local!)...

    [Misc] Black Country Living Museum

I enjoyed it when I went. Also recommended is a barge trip through the Dudley tunnels which you can join by the canal side at the museum, if you are a fan of Peaky Blinders, a lot of it was filmed at the Black Country Museum, but I think Tommy and Arthur have moved on now….

[Brighton] This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things

Seeing where you live now in Melbourne, it reminded me of when I was there a ‘few’ years ago on a working visa. I was getting the train into the city from Montmorency where I had relatives and was amazed that everyone was standing. Nothing unusual in that except for the fact that all the seats...
