    [News] Farmers

Maybe. (As with the farmers and their tax-free status one wonders how the pensioners survived before the winter fuel allowance was brought in. It is almost as if, until Thatcher and Johnson introduced their generous socialist concessions on tax free farm inheritance and winter fuel allowance...

They work 8 days a week and 53 months a year because they love are country. Clueless. ???

    [News] Farmers

So the choice is import cheap food or give farmers unfair tax breaks to continue their bucolic (albeit working 8 days a week 53 months year, apparently) existence for reasons of (checks the internet) tradition? Somehow I suspect there may be a flaw in your narrative. I do agree that Labour...

OK I get it. Something about mentioning Wigan triggers a competition to see who can type the longest sentence without punctuation. It isn't me.

    [NSC] New weird adverts

I have suddenly started getting sound adverts (two for Amazon) when looking at NSC. The only way to stop them is to refresh. And then minutes later they start again. Weird. Calling @Bozza

I don't want to close the farms. I'd rather see massive tariffs on absurdly imported cheap food from miles away.

Your first statement is false. Labour have not reduced subsidies by 79%. Nothing remotely close. As for the rest.... yes I know why it is cheaper to fly in food. The same reason that it is cheaper to buy clothes made by children in the far East. Are you in favour of cheap food and...

[Football] Gary Lineker to step back from presenting MOTD

Indeed. And although I have always like the Gaz, I have never had a problem with little Laura either. (Maybe I'm simply used to interviewers demanding the moon on a stick from Labour interviewees, and am inured to it all). (and if 'inure' comes up as tomorrow's Wordle answer I'm calling...

Indeed. Sainsbury often sells asparagus from Peru. And I thought Paddington was a long way away. The most sustainable green produce in my neck of the woods, however, is not Macknade's, but Tackle's garden. Specifically my asparagus patch. More than 450 spears this year. At between 50P and a...

Apologies. I missed the bit about little or no complaint. Still, in relative terms the complaint does not map to the million-man convoy to Parliament that was being celebrated on the radio this morning (and all day, in fact), triggered by those pesky socialists. It is a mild grumble by...

Yep. Ironically I buy all my produce from the local farm shop (Macknade) at high price to support local farmers and get pesticide-free veg, free range meat and even nitrate-free sausages. So I am prepared to pay the price for quality. Incidentally, has anyone mention 'red' diesel yet?
