My greatest football hero of all time. Was lucky enough to be there when he scored that famous goal against Man Utd in the mid-1960s and Spurs won 5-1.
Goalscorers are the top priority. With a goal or two each game, we would have challenged for the play-offs again. Look at our goals against column - almost as good as Derby and Ipswich, better than Brentford and Wolves. Once we had scored a couple, we would have been very difficult to peg back...
I notice you all seem to be assuming we are playing in the Championship next season. If not, won't COG, CMS and a few others be worth keeping on, as many people seem to think League 1 is their level ?
Not just knobs, but also, as with many fans, like SHEEP. Hence the following:
Copying each other by tattooing every inch of their arms,
Spending their money on silly hair styles
Buying ridiculous third team strips
Singing songs that they heard their rivals singing the week before
Kissing shirt...
I saw him play several times for Spurs in the early 60s. That was another world, football-wise, compared to today. Sendings off then were hardly ever seen and no subs either. That Spurs team was the only thing that has ever come close to attracting me away from supporting the Albion.
Too many games are ruined by senseless sendings off. Second yellow card should = sin binning. Players straight red carded should be sent off, but substitutes allowed. Player sent off gets longer ban though (ie punishes the player NOT the team and the fans)
Having read both books and studied the History a bit, I find it really superb. I would sympathise with those who have come to it "cold" though - probably seems slow moving and hard to follow.
