Not in Ethiopia unfortunately. There are just so many ways to 'get done'. Ethiopian pickpockets are masters of all forms and I have been left speechless with admiration at some of the tricks employed and they don't all follow the traditional boring distraction techniques.
Never anything violent fortunately, but I have been pickpocketed loads of times, Pamplona, Rome (several times) and Ethiopia (loads of times, its endemic there) Plus, got my expensive camera nicked in Peru several years back.
I haven’t got a dog in the race so to speak, but please think about it. Threats to the wheelbarrow race, I dunno, but can you see the headlines ‘charity wheelbarrow racers for food banks attacked by hunt supporters’ the hunt and by association all hunts would be outcasts, any support that they...
I've lived in Lewes for 35+ years and don't know of tis annual wheelbarrow race' for foodbanks that you talk of. This event was organised by 'action against foxhunting' in my opinion to thwart the hunt. I haven't as you've said made disparaging remarks about the sabs, I have criticised the...
Well the hunt (who im not a supporter of) paraded through Lewes today. The wheelbarrow racing in aid of local food charities didnt take place, cancelled last minute. Apparently it was more important to try and thwart the local hunt than support the local foodbanks. Some local people had turned...

A group of us travelled up to Canterbury Cathedral for the annual carol service (23rd & 24th) every year. The Cathedral was jam packed and people were queueing outside. It was wonderful, the choir, the ambiance and Justin Welby even gave us a smile as he passed by in the procession during the...
Update ... The council has now approved The Southdown and Eridge Hunts request for a road closure and the Hunt will now meet at the earlier time of 10-10.30 with the wheelbarrow racing due to commence at 11am. Looks like Lewes high street will be a bit lively on Boxing Day morning.
Edit...
I don't know, why are you asking me? I would like to see a working two state solution, I would love to see a peaceful solution, but based on conversations with some Palestinians, and my basic understanding of the region I'm not sure it will work long term. Also, do you think that the 100's of...
The whole situation is utterly depressing, with no end in sight. In my opinion there will never be a proper peace and anyone who thinks that a two state solution is the answer might be in for a shock if it were ever to happen. When I used to travel to Israel/the West Bank, I sometimes used to...
