I would posit that my post fulfilled all of your criteria: straight, non-confrontational, crystal clear, and not biased.
Whereas your post that mine was replying to failed criteria 1, 3, and 4.
You’ll no doubt disagree, as is your right.

I’m keeping a eye on the bidding for the MG A I posted about earlier. In perusing other motors on the same site, I came across an XK8 (nope, not interested), with the following first paragraph:
‘ RELISTED DUE TO WINNING BIDDER'S WIFE FINDING OUT ABOUT HIS PURCHASE. HE'S NOW DEFAULTED AND LOST...
“ The engine is a 1588cc unit which has been rebore 60thou oversize. A new unleaded spec cylinder head was fitted during the restoration. The four speed gearbox was also stripped and all bearings and seals replaced.
The Lucas DM2 40510 distributor was reconditioned by Martin Jay at Distributor...
5 minute job?
I’ve got all the tools, gadgets, things with gauges and pipes etc. All from my dad’s garage. Enough to open a mechanic shop, literally. Knowing what to do with them and which one to use when is the tiny bit of detail that is lacking.
This, right here, is what scares the bejesus out of me…
…and this is why I still might buy it.
I made the rookie error of telling the boss that I was thinking of buying it.
‘It’s very beautiful. But [long pause] you have no idea what you’re doing’.
‘Your point is?’
‘No. Just no’...
The other end of the wire is a socket that fits in the power amp. The black bit fits into a socket on the back of the subwoofer. It doesn’t power the woofer; power is provided by its own separate power supply.
Here we have the residue of my plumber’s clumsiness. He managed to get his foot caught up in the cable from my power amp to the subwoofer.
As you can see I have 3 wires and 4 possible holes. The permutations don’t particularly scare me, but blowing up either my amp or subwoofer (or both) does...
My dad was an engineer in the RAF so made sure I know the names of all the bits under the bonnet of an old car. He tried to make sure I could do most of the servicing too, which was kind. However, being a grumpy, recalcitrant teenager at the time, not much of it stuck. I'm probably good...
I don't know how much they typically go for, but I would have thought that this one would be at the top-ish end of the range given it's had a full panels-off resto. The estimate for this one is 20-25; currently sitting at 18...
Many thanks.
The auction site contains 600 photos, including the whole restoration, which seems to be thorough…
Problem is that a) I don’t really know what I’m doing and b) it would be an impulse buy. Not a great combination!
Oh, and c) it was first registered in God’s own county. I mean...
It’s been a while since I’ve seen a better example of an oxymoron than ‘Italian Government’; it’s up there with ‘Military Intelligence’.
Brilliant country though
