[Albion] Has anyone had any joy emailing Paul Barber?

He’ll reply - in quite a long winded way - but nothing will change. The club are never wrong.

Exactly this, if only there was a customer focused chap looking to understand unique situations and be prepared to adapt.
This is an area of improvement that could be made, if the rigidity within, would allow it.

I contacted him back in the Sami Hyypia days. He replied, and then invited me down to Lancing and personally showed me round the facilities.

He is a fantastic CEO. You'll not find another more responsive, nor one who cares about the fans as much. You may not agree with his vision - and I've had one disagreement via email - but you can't fault his care, determination and love for the club.

He's the best signing Tony ever made.

Some might not agree with some of his decisions or responses (me included on the one occasion I did email him) but you’re correct.

The only time I’ve bothered him, other than angry emails about wtf don’t we leave a pacey player up at the centre circle when defending corners.

I can't work out why we don't do that either! Leave Lamptey or Cucu on the half way line when defending a corner, and the moment we win the ball hoof it forward double quick!

Are you reading this Mr. Potter?

Out of interest, how did he manage to say p1ss off in 2000 plus words?

The drummer issue was very contentious as the club were planning to move my mates dad, who is in a wheelchair from his spot to a lower tier and a worse view so that a bloody drummer could be accommodated, without much notice as this was the afternoon of the evening match. I let rip, so did my mate, he did respond and after many emails we won our case, although he said it was health and safety why they did not.

You mean like posts #4, #10 and #47 where according to posters PB acknowledged club had made an error, got something wrong or changed their minds after feedback from emails.

Do you have any personal examples of a unique situation which wasn’t understood and responded to that you could share?

Four times I've emailed Paul and four times I've had a reply within a couple of hours. Mostly thanking him on something the club have done on a personal level, but others asking if something can be done about having somewhere to sit with a pint (as I can't stand for too long) Always very friendly and informative. I think he is warming to my suggestion of a pre-season Friendly at the Mestalla in Valencia :)

Aaarrrrgggghhhhhh................The Albion were seriously considering having a drum at the Amex ?????? For a proper league game ?? I seriously really don't want to even think about that.

( Aside from that, I have had exactly the same experience as others on this thread about prompt and courteous responses to emails from PB. )

Agreed. Leave a pacey player not required for marking/heading up as a counter attacking threat. It also ties up two opposition outfield players.

Yep, I contacted him over the Xmas period in desperation regarding a product bought from the club shop that took hours to get to page 8 of the instructions b4 realising that something was missing. Club shop responded saying I'd have to return item & start again. Begged the club shop to just send me the missing pieces & I completely understood that they weren't able to go against company policy. So I decided after an Xmas tipple that I would ask if Mr Barber if he could help on the grounds that I'd lose my sanity if I had to start again & provided pics to demonstrate just how small the pieces were. I was sent the missing parts. Can't see many/any other chairman of a football club sorting that out! Incidentally if someone wants to build a replica model of the Amex I'll be more than happy to pay! :lolol:

That’s crap. I’m glad you dug in and argued your case. I had a similar situation with my wheelchair bound father; we didn’t win. He was shunted along from his position on the halfway line, and from behind me, when the club extended the directors box area upon promotion to the EPL. We only found out a few days before the opening Man City game and it took the shine off the day somewhat . The club argued rather vaguely they needed to improve security, which I get, but I don’t get why they needed to extend the area and gobble up additional seats…..until I hear a good reason I can only assume it was to accommodate more guests at the expense of supporters. I only dealt with customer services though, not Barber.

Well perhaps he has since learnt something that was out of his usual skill set, and hopeful it was from my direct feedback.
But I saw something very different 5 years ago.
I hope he did get something from it, maybe he is still composing his thank you email?

I think you know what I am talking about.

Mod in trying to wind Mouldy boots up, what a shocker.

What makes a good moderator?

A great moderator utilizes language that is straight without being confrontational, and crystal clear without being biased.

I shall be putting my CV next time mod towers has an available spot.

Has anyone ever enjoyed a two-thousand word email reply?

More seriously (and based on what I've read on NSC) it is great that he seems to give a detailed response/reply to emails that people send him. I do wonder, however, if anyone has ever received an email in which he gives an inch on what he has decided. Genuinely interested to know if anyone has.
