Yes, that's about the 4th time I've done it and was the best conditions I've known. This was borne out by the fact that I always run it with my sister (not many finish behind us but she's a dour stayer!!) and we ran it 12 minutes faster than last year.
Ha! No, normally the volunteer that takes it down there marshalls at that turning point. They may well have been on the payroll of someone's determined PB attempt! I remember it happening before, the 1k parkrun marker is down there but not as far as the turn point and it's been mistaken for it...
Ideal conditions down at Preston Park this morning..... Cool, no wind, and a course about 80 yards short thanks to the cone on the first turn being in the wrong place!!! 90 odd PBs as a result, many of them obliviously happy with their efforts, just don't ask the IAAF to ratify it!
I'll be there running with my Tuesday night track team as last year, but I think this is a much better idea than the Super Egos!!
Remember Gaffer, when arranging teams, 40% of the distance is done at the weakest links pace which you will need to consider when balancing the teams.
337 parkruns...
Running through the pain barrier and keeping going for the sake of your charity is as commendable as any PB, so it's well done and big respect from me!
Brilliant running Badger! Sub 3 hour is something to be proud of. As for that pacer, I'm surprised a runner of that ability and you would think experience, going off too fast which could easily have messed your attempt right up. Well done on sticking to your own plan.
Well a happy new year to one and all! I may not be the most regular poster but I do always enjoy reading this thread to see how everyone is getting on. Didn't bother to submit my New Years Day parkrun effort after starting nearer to the back with Mrs A. and being reminded just how hard it is to...
Quit while you're ahead! I don't know what your healthy balance is but you are essentially risking it all every day just to get £30.
It's no great surprise you are winning at the moment, you are well odds on to win every day.
Say your balance is £30k and you are chasing £30. You are 1-1000 to...
Everyone's free to watch and enjoy what they like etc. etc. but I can't resist the temptation of joining in the slagging off!
When it first aired it was trailed with a label of best comedy to come out of Ireland since Father Ted. High praise indeed, so I gave it a watch which lasted about 10...
As this thread has resurfaced I had this in my head from last time, to the tune of Disco Duck; instead of
Disco, Disco Duck
Disco, Disco Duck
Fodio Do, Fodio Do,
Disco, disco, disco, disco,
Pascal, Pascal Gross,
Pascal, Pascal Gross,
Taking a throw,
Scoring a goal,
Pascal, Pascal, Pascal...
Sorry, I won't be in the NSC camp this year as I will be with a Brighton & Hove AC team again. I do run with them every year but due to an organisational hitch last year I couldn't. I will be no loss to anyone mind after a bad run of injury and illness, strictly Wooden Spoon standard at the moment.
Assuming we're sticking to singles, that's pretty good but I'd make two changes to that. Out go Whatever gets you through the night and Hi Hi Hi (preferred the other side C Moon) and in come George's What is Life and Paul's Another Day.
Absolute 80s were doing a chart rundown from 1982. Don't think Mrs.A was sharing the love for it like I was because as you know, stunning vocal that it is, it's not the easiest to sing along to!!
Was in the car this afternoon and this came on the radio and I said to Mrs.Anchorman, this has got to be my favourite 80s pop song. Browsing NSC tonight I saw this thread and felt compelled to post!
Yes, slower start stronger finish negative split is the sensible approach. Have a look back at last years results, in recent years they show everybody's sectionals i.e. 5k, 10k, half way time etc. Just have a look at the incredible amount of crash and burns, some are quite spectacular, just as...
Well done to everyone that got out there today in those conditions, but surely pride of place to our two proper 'ard Moylemen Knocky and Greg Bobkin for their MOM performances today.
Conditions must have been good this morning as managed a sub 23 (22.51, 69.00%) at Preston Park. Big turnout as Arena80, Seaford Striders and Brighton Tri Club all had 'flash mobs' there this morning. Well done Ninja and Knocky on impressive runs this morning.
