There's actually a book about cricket and suicides - By his Own Hand by David Frith. it's a long-standing issue in the game. Rather poignantly, the book's foreword is written by Peter Roebuck (who also took his own life)
It's terribly sad to think about Thorpe in such a state and not able to...
Blimey, I find it hard to picture Pavarotti as the Duke or as Manrico - they're both, er, active roles - although I can imagine him relishing Di Quella Pira (just found it on You Tube and he kills it).
I'm off to Lyon next year to see Peter Grimes, partly because it's possibly my favourite...
I've deferred mine. I'm looking to take it when I'm 71 or 72. It goes up by 1% every nine weeks that you defer it. So, taking it on my my 72nd would mean my pension would be about 30% higher than taking it at 67
In the House, when two MPs join on the same day, it's who takes the oath first. That's why I said Bozza, he'd have to have been on it to let everyone else on.
Of course, if we're going back to before the Great Reset it would be Manx Seagull (if he's still on here) but, if not him, who else?
The Father and the Mother (of the House) are not the oldest members but the longest, continuously serving ones. Surely, that being the case, the answer is Bozza ( don't know about Mother)
Yeah, I think that once I turn 70 I may look to a three-day week. I once worked on a project on retirement and a staggeringly large number of men died within a year of completely giving up work (and, only men, didn't seem to apply to women). I think of my dad, who was made redundant at 61, not...
I'm the complete opposite: I'm 67 and I genuinely dread the prospect of giving up work . I'm currently on a year's contract that ends in February and am already started thinking about my next gig. All the best for everyone enjoying their retirement - each to his or her own.
:lolol::lolol:
It's something I've seen a lot recently (mainly in reference to pensioners deprived of heating allowance). I've never misspelled it because I learned the word at 11 when it was mentioned in Jennings and Darbishare, when the latter explained the the word 'nickname' came from...
Other players on loan have all commented on how closely they're being monitored by Brighton and how pro-active the club is in supporting them, so I certainly doubt that part. Which makes me doubt the rest. I do wonder why we didn't accept Stuttgart's bid though - he clearly doesn't want to be...
Would they though. Look at the number of threads we've had about stand names/statues/legendary status and how few times Charlie Webb is mentioned - ask the average fan going to the Amex and I bet more than half wouldn't have heard of him. And this was the guy who scored the goal that won us our...
I think it will be a season of consolidation as Fab and some new players get used to the PL. We could finish near the bottom but I think there will be enough clubs (the promoted three, Fulham, Everton, Forest and Brentford) who should finish below us. My guess is 12th or 13th
Yeah, shades of BDB going to Newcastle - there's going to be an emotional pull. Who could blame him? I certainly don't. I'm just thankful for the seven years we got from him
I think may see about a trip to Dortmund next year, it would be great to see him live once more
