That, and the need to accommodate STs from the old Riverside stand when it was demolished. A lot of them have stayed in the Putney - much cheaper than the new Riverside.

    [Misc] Retirement

I've answered my own question by looking at the consultation here. It's all pensions that will be potentially liable to IHR.

[Albion] Away fans in home ends

Reading some of these posts reinforces my belief that Fulham's old neutral section was a brilliant idea and should be brought back to every ground. Then the half and half families, tourists, neutrals, plastics and groups of mates can all sit together and not irritate the diehard, hardcore, well...

Is it only SIPPs that get taxed, or ordinary occupational and private pensions as well?

[Other Sport] *** 2024 Autumn Budget Official Thread ***

I've just found the Private Eye article I read about this and the OBR said that ending the 5p fuel duty cut and raising it with inflation would raise Β£4.9b per year from 2024 to 2029. Even the RAC were in favour of it, because suppliers are fleecing us (as the Competition and Markets Authority...

    [Albion] Liverpool away

This is exactly what me and my daughter did last Saturday. I was frankly shocked at how easy it was to get the train. We were back at Lime Street 40 minutes after the final whistle.

[Albion] Village Way exit trial tonight

Apologies if this has been posted already, but I was in a work meeting this afternoon and was told that there'll be a new way of exiting Village Way trialled tonight after the match, involving temporary traffic lights. I don't know what this means but I thought I'd pass it on. I hope you win...

[Sussex] Lesser-known seaside town locals say is 'cheaper Brighton' is UK's craft beer capital

I used to cycle to Worthing for work until 6 years ago and haven't cycled back since. I've visited a couple of times for beer and the pubs are certainly better than they were.

[Other Sport] Fertility rates fall to record low

Good post. The last government was committed to produce a Land Use Strategy (not that I ever believed they'd do it), partly because there's a lot more competition for agricultural land for solar farms, carbon, nutrient and biodiversity offsetting, housing, data centres, pylons, flood storage...

[Albion] Guest tickets for Liverpool - are not really for guests it seems ?

It's not fully open yet, but I doubt it - and not all tickets cost that. There's a lot less than that and some a lot more - about the same as the Tunnel Club.

[Albion] Guest tickets for Liverpool - are not really for guests it seems ?

Fulham have introduced digital STs this season. We can add Friends and Family to our accounts if the person has a Client Reference number (anyone with a booking history, but can be generated if you don't) and then a ST can be transferred digitally. It seems to be working OK, judging by the...

    [Politics] The Labour Government

I agree with the main point you're making but proportionally the rich gaz guzzlers will pay more in duty. The lack of recharging infrastructure for those of us without a driveway is a different issue. I also believe that EVs should pay a charge based on the additional damage they do to road...

    [Politics] The Labour Government

I didn't read all of them, sorry. But it wasn't one of the 4 'taxes' mentioned, so it has to be in scope and reinstating it passes one of the supposed basic rules of taxation, that you tax the bad things and subsidise the good things.
