    [Football] England V Iran

I watched (sorry!!) the second half in a pub in Cyprus. Unbelievably the english people (can't call them fans) there were moaning and groaning all through about the England team. 6-2! What do they want?

[Football] The Ashton Gate 8 World in Action 1982

Thanks for that. Interesting memories. At that time we were in the first division, before the fall and rise. Ashton Gate looked so antiquated, for a club recently in div 1. A lot has happened in 40 years.

    [Politics] Joe Biden

It is not simply an either/or. Putin is clearly a bad man. But also, it is the USA that provoked the war and stands to gain considerably from it - if we aren't all nuked to death in the meantime. USA could have avoided this war happening if they wanted to.

"That honest man" as Brian Clough described him. Happy birthday Norman, and thanks for the memories!

[Cricket] Sussex CCC- 2022 Season Edition

He's been playing for Greece in ICC events, so my guess is that he would be classed as an overseas player. He's done quite well, but not really proved himself in the county championship yet.

[Albion] Roberto pre match press conference

He mentioned all the players except Pascal - probably just an oversight?

The same thing happened to Alsop in the first innings. The umpires may be ex-players but they haven't got much clue about the Laws.

Pujara 1094 runs at an average of 109 Alsop 923 @ 46 Orr 804 @ 40 Clark 751 @ 35 Carter 629 @ 41 Haines 621 @ 36 Very respectable. Your analysis does not stand up. We did need a bowler - it just seems that we may have got the wrong one.

Now Harms is confusing Carter with Ibrahim!!

Looked a poor decision against Alsop - surely hit him outside off. Umpire giving in to bowler sulking about previous not out decision, which was correct as ball was missing.

I have made my way to hungerford town v Gloucester city in the fa cup. Quite entertaining and 1-1 at HT. With a pint on the halfway line

Because we've got several good batters but are weak in bowling? Rarely able to bowl teams out.

    Agreed. Nicely and succintly put.

I saw wins at Wrexham, Chesterfield and Rotherham that year. I think 1-2, 1-2 and 2-4

If I recall correctly all 8 goals came in a 30 minute period. Unfortunately I wasn't there. We had a great away record that season.

[Football] "It's not VAR, it's the people running it"

Gutted for Alexis, who will struggle to score as good a goal again in his career. I can only rationalise the outcome by reminding myself that the free kick that led to the "goal" was given following a dive by Webster.
