Been some debate on other threads about going to war and would you serve.

Hypothetically putin has sent troops over and is looking to take Sussex.

You are given a choice, with 30 minutes to decide.

The choice is:

1) Yes. stay and fight for your county and country. Your family goes abroad.

2) No. Go abroad with your family to safety and a new life. You may never return.

Be honest.

Hand on heart I'd be lying if I was to claim that my preference would be option A. Ultimately it would probably depend on the situation

At 38 years old with bad knees and a bad back I would probably be better utilised than as frontline canon fodder anyway

I'd just offer him Kent and make a deal. We'd have to compromise, you can't expect Surrey to come and help us unless we let them win the cricket.

I've criticised him in the past, so I'd also move out of my top floor flat...

I’m 72, unfit and lazy, but if I need to shoot some b*****d who wants to take our county, country, whatever, i’d be happy to shoot as many as I could before they get me. But, hey, they are now into drone warfare and I’m crap at video games, so I might need to catch up a bit.

Brighton factually.....
I voted yes, push came to shove, if we were invaded, love ones future, identity, security, beliefs were threatened or another situation arose similar to WW2 I would like to think I would so yes.

If I’d be any use is another matter.

I’d probably leave on 85mins though.

Very thankful and never forget (due to the sacrifices of others) I’m from a generation that’s not been subject to call-up/conscription. Would have (easy to say) but too old and decrepit now, hope my kids don‘t have to either.

My health makes me unlikely to be sent to any front line until things are really bad, but at some point you have to stop and consider what you really stand for.

I couldn’t run, I’d spend the rest of my life feeling that I’d failed.
