Once US companies have completed billions of dollars of renovations, all paid for by Ukraines mineral wealth, might be rather nice to have said renovations destroyed again by Russia and thus restart the cycle
Guess the orange man will sell it as a win win then..boost to US forces and arms manufacturers followed by boost to US contractors etc..rinse and repeat..war..what is it good for? The US economy!

Does he mean that Ukraine will get the ‘benefit’ of US companies and expertise helping to rebuild there should the invasion ever finish? Isn’t that just helping US businesses interests of himself and his cabal al la post Vietnam?
Yes, I think that the 'deal'...vague as it is

But Orange man says he wants to cut US defence budget in half!
He has no strategy, he's winging it based on Musk's drug driven drivel

Wondering if EM has (allegedly) introduced the orange man to the wonderful world of Special K. Like watching William Burroughs and Hunter S Thompson at the peak of their powers..

Kinnell. I really hope it’s better than that and if it isn’t Zel doesn’t sign it..hopefully there’s a break clause in 4 years time and no obligation to buy at the end of the loan.
Yeah, maybe Zelenskiy and/or Starmer can weedle some 'defence for Ukraine' into the deal...but I really doubt that, or if they did then the US can't be trusted to deliver.
I truly think Trump has promised Putin that he won't supply any more weaponry for Ukraine's defence....I hope I'm wrong.

If this plays out as badly as it could do and the America first policy is continued..will be interesting to see what happens down the road when the political wind changes again and the US need the help of ‘allies’ outside of their own country.

I'm finding it more useful to think of it as a 'Dictators and Oligarchs First' policy - I don't think ordinary Americans are going to get much out of this administration.

Quite and this comes back to the oft made point about how any ordinary voters in the US genuinely believed that Orange man would do anything other than line his pockets, wreak revenge and shore up his pathetic ego during his time in power.

More North Koreans are coming to Kursk.

Neither Russia nor Ukraine are up for a ceasefire.
Maybe the 4d chess player has played such a blinder the only beneficiary of the ‘deal’ is the US and all other parties now realise this? He’s simply too bright for everyone else.

If Putin had captured Kiev he would have 2+ million extra (forced) Ukrainian soldiers at his disposal to meet grind Europe. Things could have been far worse then now. Russia is severely weakened.

As nice as it would be the lost land though cannot realistically be retaken without great cost, The Russians have dug in.
If there is a ceasefire this will mean both sides will dig in and re-arm. North and South Korea style. The European Alliance will have to fund this and as everyone should know by now this needs to be done quickly.

Trump approach is on the same lines as Biden, no American soldiers on the ground or involvement in military combat

The worry is him lifting sanctions which is what Putin will demand + Trump trade war against Europe

When Trump made this speech yesterday, he was addressing Zelensky.

He is keen for Zelensky to sign the minerals deal tomorrow (sans security agreement).

I'm now wondering if he tells people what they want to hear. Were the harsh words he had for Ukraine a few days ago (Ukraine started the war etc) aimed at the imminent talks with Russia?
