I wonder if the larger allocation, playing us away twice in a week, and their awful away form turned away the usual contingent and instead it was filled with a bunch of home fans who fancied a nice weekend by the seaside. It certainly didn't feel like the usual Chelsea lot were around in town.

I assumed it was a bunch of Chelsea 'tourists' from Sussex and the south coast.

Just far enough away from LDC
I agree that performances dictate support but even with that excuse, it was a remarkably odd away support. They went 1-0 up and there was no real noise from the fans.

I work with a chelsea fan..he travels to most away games but avoids the Brighton ones because, in his words, it brings the idiots out. He is therefore avoiding this Friday too.

He says its the same when they play spurs for some reason.

Generally agree with this thread - good (not) to hear 'Does your boyfriend know you're here' on alighting at Falmer, as if it was the 1980s - but there are *some* decent ones. Have a couple of good mates who are Chelsea and met up with one of them for beers in Lewes before the game.

The other guy only started following them because his son started getting into football so he literally 'chose' a club to start supporting so he could take him to games. He is London-based and at the time I suggested Fulham (family-friendly club and half-decent team), but instead he chose... Chelsea  He is of Asian origin and I do wonder how their racist dickheads react to him.

That's what has struck me about Chelsea's African fanbase for years. They use social media to proclaim their love for the team and club in general - all the 'London is blue' nonsense from the oligarch era, for example - and yet if any of them showed up for an actual game, the wannabe C18/Headhunter cretins would make their life hell.

I find this unbelievable. Even for football fans, that is extraordinary. I think Maresca has done a brilliant job there. He was brave enough to basically sideline half of their ridiculously bloated squad, and only use the ones he needs, which was exactly what needed doing. To have that basket case of a club in 4th place with that owner and all the issues they have is a brilliant achievement in my opinion. Hopefully they will sack him and set him up for life financially, and bring in the next big name coach that will also fail. I'd happily have him at the Albion.
I'm the opposite.

I think he's a pound land pep and an arrogant prick. I think it was Poch that got them sorted and he took over from a decent position before slowly turning them a bit shit again. I also think how he treated and spoke about the layers he cast out was bang out of order and feeds into my he's an arrogant prick theory.

In complete contrast to you I hope Chelsea don't sack him, keep wasting money on his wages and giving him players he doesn't want, need or use and they continue to tank.

Football: it's a game of opinions. :)

I don't know, I'm sure they could bond over their mutual love of homophobia and mysogyny...?

Probably the most away fans ever at the Amex and definitely the quietest. Shambles from them. 6000 Albion fans at any away ground would make a right old racket.
You didn’t go to Charlton last time then ?

Quite. That game is up there with a small number of others of maximum difference between expected and actual Albion fan experience/behaviour... we got totally outsung by a group of about 50 Charlton fans with a drum!

Yep, we all turned up expecting the team to turn it in against League One minnows and breeze into the next round. But the team didn't perform and us fans didn't respond by trying to lift them. Poor all round really

As for Chelsea and their crap church mouse fans, they remain the one club I'd really laugh out loudly at if they went bust.

I mean I hate Portsmouth, don't much like Bournemouth and Reading, hold some big London clubs in total disdain and obviously the same goes for one particularly small "London" club that has never played in Europe - but Chelsea are just scum from the top down. And when I say "down", I mean you really have to be looking in the sewer to find most of their fans.

Their wanky right wing songs, their racist bullying, their supreme arrogance and so on. There's not one redeeming feature is there? If there was a God, Chelsea would go bust some time soon. Twunts.
