At a lower level, my point is that it is the same coin toss, albeit with more experience that McConville is. Plenty of players look good in a lower division, see Danny Cullip but can they make the step up?

Cashin may be brilliant, and let’s hope so, because both CBs were dreadful Saturday.

No it isn't lol

Player with 100+ senior appearances vs Player with 1

Who has never played at that level….
Lower level experience counts for very little.
You simply cannot compare league 1 and the championship to the PL.

Of course you can't compare it. But a player who has proven himself at those levels is definitely less of a punt than a player who has never played at any senior level.

Though one is an international level even with less experience, one with more experience hasn’t made that level yet, which granted Cashin may eventually, but as per my post it is not a sure thing he’ll adapt or step up.

Great if Cashin makes the step up, but not a ‘given’.

Will have to disagree on this…..

He started one game vs Luxembourg, non-league is a better standard than that :lolol:

I never said it's a given that Cashin will make the step up, just that he is more of a proven commodity and less of a punt.

He’s played more games at a lower level, if that’s your thing fair enough.

My preference is a player who was on the fringes of our first team and who was deemed good enough in U21 and training.

I’d have preferred to keep them both, but whether McConville didn’t fancy it I don’t know.

Just thinking about players wanting to leave for guaranteed football…
I actually think that’s great. For football in general. I want young players to want to play. Yes, you need to have conviction in the possibility of breaking into a first team, but I do think it’s really healthy when players (and Ininclude people like Palmer in this) are prepared to move. It improves the standard of football domestically across the levels and I hate the idea of the biggest clubs (us included) just becoming cash cow farms.

Are we expecting tonights U-21 PL2 game at Everton to be available to view on YouTube?

Or because the Man Utd v Leicester FA Cup game is on TV does it mean our game can't be shown?

I think that the ridiculous and unnecessary ban only applies to PL matches, so will keep my fingers crossed.

As @GT49er says, it is only days when Premier League matches are scheduled that clubs are prevented from screening PL2 matches (the PL can insist on that because they run both competitions).

However, when it is other competitions (not run by the PL) concerned, there shouldn't be an issue (at least in terms of a club being ALLOWED to stream a game - whether they make the effort is, of course, another matter).

Anyway, you CAN watch tonight's game - if you subscribe to evertontv.

(I guess there is a chance that Albion provide a free stream on their youtube page but I wouldn't hold your breath).

But he clearly wasn't deemed good enough as we never played him and sold him lol

Or did he choose to leave, you simply don’t know

In the matchday squad I would suggest that is fairly significant for a young player and proof he was considered ‘good enough’ as he wouldn’t have been there. LoL

A similar squad to Tuesday. 1st-year scholar Darius Lane has his first involvement with the U-21s on the bench.

Aside from the long-term injuries to Noel Bigo Atom and Adrian Mazilu there are a number of others who have been missing recently, presumably with injury; RB Charlie Tasker, MF Zane Albarus (who had done a decent job of filling in at RB in Tasker's absence), MF Jamie Mullins and FW Joshua Duffus (although he was pictured in the training gallery on the club website today). 2nd-year scholars Joe Belmont and Layth Gulzar, who I would have expected to have had some involvement recently, haven't been seen since early December. LB Jacob Slater once again fills in at RB.
