Fair enough - generally true that news about our targets comes from Ornstein rather than Naylor though.
Sometimes - I guess they're a team. But often he reports or confirms interest in targets via tweets or contributions to their website . Of course The Athletic compete with Sky, FAB (the other one) , and dozens of outlets globally for PL transfer news - its competitive stuff.

My worry is that we're buying like there's no tomorrow, but are these young players actually improving? All these new players look slow, short and weak.
You might think so, others might disagree. In any case, I sincerely doubt Tony is buying players left and right without having thought every deal through.

He's Ferguson's replacement.
Or Pedro or Welbeck ?
He's another centre forward option thats for certain.
Ferguson's future still very much up in the air. Depends on his 15 or so games with West Ham, the future of Hurzeler and very much the futures of Pedro and Welbeck who is 35 next season.

Funny one this, isn't it? He's playing in the German equivalent of the Championship, and yet seemingly had Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs and Villa after him, according to some pretty reputable sources. That's like Europe's top clubs (and Spurs/ Chelsea) going after some lad at Sunderland.

His underlying stats must suggest he's pretty special then.

A bit like Barco?
I'm sure this has been done to death on the other thread but every little thing I've read about that situation suggests there is way more to it than Barco not being up to the grade and that it comes down to something very negative about his character/ personality. It's clearly not just us who thought that either, as Sevilla haven't wanted to touch him with a bargepole.

On the plus side, he's now gone to Chelsea, thinly disguised as Strasbourg, so hopefully he will screw their clubs up from the inside.

Oh I've seen all that, but he's still playing in the second tier, isn't he? I don't know if those figures are weighted to take into account the relative strengths of the leagues.

Don't get me wrong, I very much want to be positive. I just want to know what it is about this lad which has seemingly attracted some of the best clubs in Europe, despite the fact he's playing against German village sides.
