Personally I would like to have seen him given the chance over the latter part of the season with us.

I'm not saying Europe is out of the question, but realistically I can't see us improving our form enough to maintain a challenge this season for the top 6/7, and we aren't going down. To my mind giving McConville some opportunity over the rest of the season would have made sense especially as we're likely to end up mid-table and we could do with seeing what he has to offer under slightly less pressure.

Not sure whether a loan (if true) down to that level makes any sense.

Don’t think it’s fair on the kid chucking him at the deep end when he’s only played a handful of U21 matches. Give him time.

I was referring to him as being more on the bench as cover, with a few sub appearances from time to time to aclimatise to the 1st team environment, and if he does ok then towards the end of the season he could be given a couple of starts. Not chucking him straight in as an immediate starter.
