If you want me to listen to anything you say, you need to stop making personal attacks from a point of anonymity. People like you and jcdenton who keeps very anonymous so you can be as rowdy and mean as you can behind the keyboard... you're nothing. Sorry. Not even wankers. Too cowardly to be wankers.
If you're going to comment on someones looks and persona you lose all credibility if you're an anonymous keyboard warrior.

So you better give me a name or a face or you won't get more response from your comments on how I look, smell and whatnot, get it?

THHP during one of our feuds introduced himself with name etc. Thats class. Thats how you allow a fair tug-of-war. You and the video game nerd? Pathetic.
I think it about time you called it a day on here. You are becoming a parody of yourself.

gawd help you if you spout some of the stuff on here on a wet sham site.

time to walk away and enjoy your fan boy obsession with potter on one of their sites.

Maybe because its an exact description of you?
Unbelievable :wozza:

You've done a great number of people a grave disservice here. Many of them never lived to see the stadium built, let alone the promised land of the EPL and Europe. You can have a pop at me all day long, I don't give a shit, but you owe these people an apology.

*edit* Build a Bonfire is out of stock but We Want Falmer is available on Amazon. You badly need a history lesson. In fact if you drop me your address via PM, I'll send you a copy myself

@Han Solo stop digging, you have passed up the opportunity to back up your nonsense with evidence and have been found wanting in this discussion.

My advice would be to log off, get yourself a copy of We Want Falmer and Build a Bonfire and come back when you have read and understood them.

You are so way off the mark it's embarrassing

Some people strongly give that impression yes.

Any time the financial results of the club are presented, people moan about too little money being spent on signings. When you make the argument that the club should not adventure its future, people say "but I have followed this team for x long and want a title before I die". In other words they're willing to sacrifice the club for future generations if they can only get a title in return. People say they care about the club yet they want to put it at serious risk of becoming f***ing Portsmouth if only they can celebrate a title. But the future isn't important right? As long as you get your shit the club can go f*** itself when you're dead and buried. That seems to be the mentality of a bunch of older fans.

So much for saving the club, that was the past. Now to some its all about glory, getting that trophy so you can say "I won this in the 90s"... but that has f*** all to do with the club imho. Anyone who wants the wellbeing of the club won't side with a manager who think we should financially ruin the club so we can get the results that could earn him a big money move from the rental flat he had no intention of staying in any longer than he did. Imo, and not apologising for it.

People here get more and more Manchester United with every year. Maybe because people think they're too good to remind themselves about history and where they came from rather than just endlessly bragging about it and literally gatekeeping it from new fans who all get treated like shit if they dare popping up here or elsewhere. I say literally because we just had two threads were some people went berzerk over the club wanting people to actually go to the games rather than sitting at home waving around their ST like some sort of identity-willie.

We'll see what the future brings. Maybe the new generation of fans that didn't grow up in post-war economical growth have a bigger sense of financial responsibility and won't label the owner as an umambitious cheapskate for not bringing in (immediate) like-for-like replacements for Ali Mac and Caicedo or signing "two top class wingers if March or Mitoma gets injured", like was the melody the entire last season.

People say they love the club and at the same time that they "don't care about finances". Tell me they don't need a history lesson...
How tell everyone on here that you are a ‘’twat’ without actually using the word ‘twat’.

Why would I back up opinions with threads and quotes that people will forget when we have this same conversation again?

Normal course of debates around this subject:

1. One or several members gets agitated with the club and the people working with it for whatever reason. Maybe they stole Dick Knights glory. Maybe they are telling season ticket-holders to use their season tickets. Maybe they didn't spend £100m on Alexis Mac Allister. Maybe only finished top 10 in the league. Maybe didn't challenge for Europe. There's lots of crimes against humanity brought up here, and the club, the owner and its model are frequently seen as the causes of these crimes against humanity.

2. I say there is no crimes against humanity done in BHAFC and that people should be very grateful that they have a well-run club.

3. People will suddenly tell me "no we all love Tony Bloom and if you don't believe you need to read these 20 year old books where I'm portrayed as a hero and thus can't be criticised or opposed".

4. I bring up a bunch of quotes and threads with people absolutely bashing Tony, the club and the model.

5. People ignore the evidence because they don't like it and keep pretending they're all very grateful superfans and if I don't believe it I should read 20+ year old backs that prove it.

I haven't read the Falmer book but I have read Build a Bonfire. Its a good book, a great story, and people hide behind it whenever they want to defend their opposition against Tony Bloom and how he runs the club ("RDZ is great because he says NO to everything Tony wants!!"). Because of course they know it is entitled, ungrateful, spoilt and infantile to ask the guy who spent £400m on the club to spend another £100m on luxury footballers, so they need a good f***ing book to hide behind to they don't have to argue their position.

If people want to me to buy their superfan shit they could act as if they give a shit about the club (other than as a pastime entertainment show they can moan about) rather than show me a f***ing book about how great fans they are.

Only one Premier League club has ever gone into administration and that was Portsmouth 15 years ago (who are still going). Since then we’ve had FFP / PSR and its breaching that which the club are understandably worried about and seek to prevent. They do it well, there is no existential threat.

But Tony Bloom is also against a football regulator. You are not. You’ve posted and liked posts on threads that are pro regulation. Tony Bloom also hired Roberto De Zerbi. At the very least you’re saying our due diligence, background checking and interviewing was poor aren’t you?

I don’t really care about the answer btw. Every single post you make on the subject is agenda laden. The agenda is your ego. Your desire not to be wrong. Your desperation to prove that the guy who spent three seasons taking us to ninth is the second coming of Jesus because he’s a nice guy and worked in Sweden and that the guy who took us to the last 16 of the Europa League is Hitler.

Because you want to win the internet. Because you want to project your own experiences on to professional football. And when you’re called on it you’ll make incorrect, sweeping statements, based in hyperbole and false equivalence and division that you can’t back up with actual quotes.

I will stop telling Brighton fans that they don't appreciate Bloom when they don't take the first chance of attacking him but as we could see last winter, many are willing to take the managers side against the club and its owner.
Thanks for the reply to my post appreciated.

I was one of those that @Tom Hark Preston Park mentioned , among the many thousands of us up and down the Country, that fought for the Falmer site, attended meetings and pushed thousands of leaflets through letter boxes. My Dad who took me to my first Brighton game in the mid sixties on his ST, used his journalist connections nationally to raise awareness at a time he had been diagnosed with terminal cancer and is now longer with us. So your suggestion that we did it for kudos or so we could have it as a stick to beat TB with now is both insulting to his memory and ludicrous.
All you have to do is trashtalk the club so that you can look bigger and better than the club. Many Brighton fans can relate to that.
All English fans moan, it’s the par for the course - we are all Monday morning quarterbacks when it comes to the football and all back seat drivers when it comes to the Club - take it with a pinch of salt. Maybe it’s the English football culture and in Sweden it’s different?

However, it is you that’s doing the ‘trasktalking’ here, and it’s about the fans. On a forum that specifically has a fan based membership, that’s a little self-defeating!

I won’t attempt to explain why that might be but dogs pissing on lampposts to establish their territory springs to mind.

This is a forum that comprises largely of decades long-standing Brighton fans who know a lot about the history of their Club and contrary to what you might think, not only have a good understanding of football but also a good eye for potential players (and managers! ) that would suit us. I can understand why someone who is relatively new to following Brighton, is from another Country and never seen us play live might struggle to feel they belong here. However nobody has to be a superfan to be welcomed on NSC one doesn’t even need to be a Brighton fan or prove they know more about football than anyone else. You just have to not be a dick. ‘Trashtalking’ the very fans who kept this Club alive is a dick move.

Who can blame them? Sullivan/Gold/Brady may’ve made a huge financial coup, but they sold the club’s soul …. football with shite sight lines. I wonder if Sullivan/Gold suspect that in the long run the government/athletics will give up the ghost, enabling them or the next owners to redevelop it into a football stadium?
Yeah its called knocking it down and starting again. The whole structure is wrong, it's round.

How come the same people moaning about these quotes are the same one who doesn't give a shit about Roberto De Zerbi trashtalking the club publicly in media for month?
Oh yes because he talked trash every week about Brighton & Hove Albion, which is "ambitious". A throwaway comment on the fans is perceived as worse, because Brighton & Hove Albion is the only club in the world where the fans think they're bigger, more beautiful and more important than their club.

Thats how a throwaway comment about a very entitled fanbase boos are more upsetting than someone on a weekly basis humiliating the club over how small and bad it is.

I'm not a fan of RDZ because I don't feel he was performing for his last few months here. But I didn't personally feel that he was humiliating the club etc. Maybe I missed some of his comments

Guess its a consequence of the rough 90s. A lot of guys used the club as a vehicle to boost their own thoughts about their own importance and they're eager to rally behind anyone saying the club, its owner, its ambitions, its size, its model is trash because they got a kick out of doing those things themselves ages ago.

What are you talking about? Your comments here come across as completely clueless, about a club you claim to support.

Thats the only real sad thing about it. The guy who spent three years working hard to make the team function is seen as a knob and the guy who spent 1.5 years expressing how small and unambitious the club in order to look better himself is is seen as a club legend.

Although RDZ got us our highest finish, and we did fairly well in Europe with him, I don't think he's seen as a legend. Far from it IMO.

Sorry, I have decided to disengage from this thread due to repeated complaints that I'm derailing the super interesting discussion you guys were about to have about Graham Potter.

You can proceed discussing this new, fascinating and unexplored subject without further derailings from me.

No problem. In the meantime you really should read up on what happened in the 90s. To claim that it was about fans being self-important is far off the mark.
