However with replays maybe Tamworth wouldn’t have made the 3rd round. They won on penalties in the 2nd round and could have easily lost a replay.

Football peaked for my non league side Brackley town tonight. 3-1 up away from home approaching half time. Goalie gets a red card but we didn’t have a sub goalie on the bench so one of the goal scorers who is a defender went in goal. 2-3 just before half time and 3-3 just after half time.
A double save in the 83rd minute from the defender in goal (George carline) before an injury time winner for Brackley to win 4-3 which puts us three points off the top of the table.

Would love to see Brackley go up, they’ve fell at the last hurdle so many times, and it would be great to see them with the big boys in the national league.
Had very similar happen down at the Hawks a few weeks ago, it’s a great way to win, really heroes in goal. Which may I add, I did show a Korean vlogger round the enclosed ground (a sentence I never thought I’d say) at this game and he made a vlog of it.

It has been nuts. I reckon they have been in the play offs 6 of the last 7 years (something like that). They have just missed out on promotion automatically a couple of times. They keep running into big spenders who they can’t compete with being part time.
Teams who have gone up since I have been following them
Salford had crazy budget and up through several divisions
Harrogate were big spenders and now in league 2
Kings Lynn had a year they spent loads
AFC fylde went full time and were far too good
Gateshead with langstaff who went to notts county and scored loads
Stockport went straight up several divisions
And on it goes.
To keep being where they are with some big clubs in that league is some achievement. This year Scunthorpe and Chester are obviously quite big but neither top the table. If they don’t go up this season then next year Robbie Savage’s Macclesfield will come through the division spending squillions.
We just need some luck. Win a pen shoot out, not hit bar at 0-0, not lose captain just before play offs. Small squad simply can’t cope.
I have just started reading this book, it’s mostly about non league games involving the Eastbourne teams. The author definitely has a good sense of humour, also supports Aldershot @atfc village

Broke my 2025 cherry with a trip to Worthing for their unnecessarily nervy 1-0 win against Weymouth
My first trip to Woodside Road since the play off win over Maidstone last season and my first experience of the sumptuous new terrace. What a beauty it is
Worthing should have won this comfortably really but failed to bag a second goal which would have killed the game really. Were clinging on and the visitors should have equalised at the death but could only hit the bar

Good win for Horsham too in the Sussex derby. Only 4 points off top now with a game in hand.
I went to a cold Pilot Field this afternoon to watch a very poor Hastings United lose 2-1 to Cray Wanderers. They've signed Ollie Black back on loan from Worthing and his long throws are all Hastings had. 3rd bottom and 4 points behind safety and Whitehawk now. Ironic that Hendon drop into the relegation zone today having beaten Hastings 9-0 back in November.

So the state of play for our sides is thus:
National League South:
Both Worthing and Eastbourne Borough firmly in play off contention. With games in hand Worthing are in a good position and Borough are much improved on last year
Isthmian Premier:
Horsham doing brilliantly and are in the play off mix. Chichester City aren't far behind them having been promoted last season. Lewes are down in 13th and it's bad news for our sides down the bottom...Whitehawk are sitting perilously above the relegation trap door- places that have been occupied by Bognor Regis Town and Hastings United for much of the season
Isthmian South East:
Burgess Hill are looking good in 4th and will hope to be in the play off mix. Eastbourne Town, Broadbridge Heath, Three Bridges and East Grinstead occupy places 12th-15th between them. Lancing, Littlehampton and Steyning are all in a relegation dog fight with Steyning currently occupying bottom spot
SCFL Premier:
Hassocks are the runaway leaders, capitalizing on Haywards Heath's capitulation. They currently have an 8 point lead at the top with the surprise package- newly promoted Roffey looking like their main threat unless Haywards Heath get their act together. At the bottom Little Common and Saltdean occupy the bottom 2 slots with just 12 & 13 points to their name respectively
SCFL 1:
Bit of a humdinger at the top with Forest Row and Seaford trading blows. Just 3 points separate them and they have a healthy 8 point lead over the chasing pack. At the bottom the lowest Sussex side are Montpelier Villa who are second bottom with just 11 points to their name

Rustington and Jarvis Brook have been the top 2 all season with my old pals Southwater snapping at their heels. By my reckoning the only side in title contention who could actually achieve promotion are Hailsham who currently sit in 4th place. At the bottom Brighton Electricity, Bosham and Upper Beeding are all having poor seasons with just 6, 7 and 10 points to their names.

Everyday it looks increasingly like whoever is in charge at Haywards Heath has made an absolutely dreadful decions

Bognor look dead and buried with a squad full of youngsters and long term injuries to 3 key players.
11 points from safety and only 17 games remaining.
However Jamie Howell (Harry's dad) is back at the club alongside the popular Michael Birmingham as joint managers. There has been a surge of confidence and with the possibility of a couple of new signings they might be able to scramble up the table a bit.
The fan base remain very supportive with a home average gate of 750 despite getting battered most weeks.
Unfortunately statistically it's looking unlikely they can avoid relegation.
In other news, they will find out in the next couple of weeks if they have been given planning permission to install a 3G pitch in the summer.

Third looks well within their grasp given the games in hand over Margate. How many go up automatically? The joint manager approach seems to be working really well. Need to wander down to see another game.

I think it’s just the team that finishes top who are automatically promoted with positions 2-5 going into the play offs. Top place is unrealistic for Hill but, barring a Devon Loch style collapse, the play offs look nailed on.
