If you're a football fan, you know the joke ( hence the looks between the stags). If you're not a football fan, honestly, it's not that funny. So I think they played it just right.Disappointed there was no full kit wanker joke when Bryn turned up in full West Ham kit

And would rather watch a repeat of it than watch Coldplay if I'm honest

There is a problem with tv programmes and films all wanting to be cynical, edgy and clever. What Gavin and Stacey gave unashamedly was the opposite. Little digs and jokes, call backs to previous stories, life affirming happiness and making smithy evolve from hopeless moron to a good dad whilst nessa moved from a tart with no heart to a vulnerable person and a great mum. When she knew Smithy's biggest fear and no mocking of it.
As someone else said, the skill of G&S is that G&S aren't the main characters and can create villains who later become hero's (Dave coaches) and new Villains like Sonia.
And Mick's explanation of his and pam's love for Smithy and why his reaction meant more than that of neil (the baby) or gavin or his sister

Not surprised to see some of the negative comments about James Corden. It’s always the case when someone British is a success that the haters come out. Last night was the best thing shown on the BBC (certainly for comedy) for a very very long time. Corden is seriously talented but has maximised the absolute most of it. That is to be applauded. Well done James Corden.
One of the beauties of G&S is the perfect casting. Everyone fits and are very believable.
I also highly recommend a trip to Barry Island. Or Barry’s Island as Pam likes to call it.

My negative comments about James Corden were nothing to do with his success. They were because he is an absolute ****. In fairness he is such a supreme **** that it is worthy of acknowledgement. Fair play, if you are going to be a **** you might as well be the biggest **** possible. And he is.
...and I quite like a couple of Coldplay songs.
I know people who have worked with him and they consider him to be an utter ****.
