Surely if there is a narrow pinch point everyone trying to go in the same direction eases some of the problem rather than people trying to squeeze past each other going in opposite directions?
They won't be though will they, unless you have some hidden tunnels, fans leaving the West stand and wanting to go to the coach park or park or ride will be heading in the opposite direction to those leaving the East stand and heading to the station

This thread where people were getting crushed in 2022.

Skimming through that though, didn't see that we were held back, I remember the one way system causing problems though.

It caused problems because people were still going forwards from the back when the front wasn’t moving. I can’t remember but don’t Palace have a special train, which holds everybody else up?

I thought the train was later than the majority leave and well after the final whistle.

I actually think it works better to hold us back. Holding back 27k for 30 mins is a lot easier than trying to dispurse 27k in 30 mins. Get rid of the 3k twats (how many have we given them this season?) in about 20 mins.
Agreed re the pinch point now at the fan zone, potentially not good.
So 27k of our supporters who just want to get home without fuss or to catch connecting trains to far parts of the country get held back , for the sake of 3k morons who might use that 30 minutes to hang around the ground doing whatever they intended in the first place ?.

Twice i have had to get a taxi from Poole and Bournemouth to the Weymouth area because of missed connections and late trains being stopped at those 2 places , no thanks - keep them behind . Just how keeping back 9x the amount of people back seems easier is crazy .

If there was an NSC award for bad ideas, this would win it.

They will probably keep the NW exit closed again like they have done before so add to the general crush past the new build, it was a little scary trying to get out the north stand when they did that before, still the police know far better than the supporters on what puts people at risk
NW family section exit via North stand? sounds like a crazy idea adding to the crush. I do find despite the need for the fan zone is it in the right area as it does seem to add to the bottleneck. At one point the area was to have a hotel i believe, where exactly was that gonna sit? Also if CP fans are held back why do our fans in the NW need to exit anywhere but where they normally do?

whatever DOES happen would be good if its communicated clearly in advance to all supporters.

We get kept in then kettled away at Selhurst EVERY year, why can't the same happen to that lot here?

But because for whatever reason they don't then you keep the home exits closed....... You 'get rid' of 3k then open the home exits.

Alternatively, you keep 3k back, let 27k start queuing for trains, buses etc or just hang about in the concourse bars..... then you let 3k morons out en masse. Which is more likely to then cause an incident?

I would rather that than the even more crazy one way system. I was caught up in that outside the east in 2022 with my kids, it was no laughing matter, that was caused by the police blocking the exit past the NE corner towards the trains and idiot stewards allowing fans to exit and turn towards that corner, which is exactly what the fanzone is going to do.

My bold.

No, you keep the 3K morons locked in for as long as is necessary ie until the home fans have dispersed.

Many of us have clocked up many hours locked in at Sellhurst over the years. Why should we have to suffer the same inconvenience at home?

I agree but they DON'T do it. So which bad option do you prefer? Keep us back in our nice stadium for a while or this stupid (and IMO dangerous) one way system?
