I was right by the North Stand when they opened the big shutter and the crush was pretty unpleasant, something went wrong and Barber needs to own that and tell us how it won’t happen again

Curious just how sincere that apology is given his initial reaction by email to someone on here and the club's statement that they were in control the whole time as they were watching on CCTV.

Not sure club can win here. There's pages of posters on here rightly urging the club and Barber to apologise , and accept responsibility for what was clearly a incident that nobody wants to experience again and outline what they are going to do to prevent it happening again. I was one of them.
Now he has - very publicly done so - yet
you immediately doubt that he is sincere and that even worse that the response is instead "curious". .
Oh well . Fair enough.

It’s an internal process with no accountability to the people affected by the crush. Please forgive a little cynicism given the history of these types of situations at football matches. I don’t think a ‘trust us, we know what we are doing’ type of approach is going to be good enough.

I read this differently to BNthree.

The club sent out a very poor email on Saturday morning, accepting zero responsibility.

He has backtracked massively here and in his programme notes which I can only see as a good thing.

The club cocked up and he's admitting as much - not something they do very often....

He does (sometimes) need a bit of help on the PR front - maybe a bit too quick to fire off statements (we all know how quickly he replies to emails!)

Agreed . i thought the initial statement was the bare minimum in terms of explaining what had happened to those that were involved including me and my family and it underestimated the strength of feeling and concern by fans involved on the night. However I now think the club in the space of 48 hours have rightly accepted responsibility, apologised in detail and outlined what they are going to do to prevent it happening again.

I have indeed let the club know my feelings about the incident I was caught up in with my family.

Any rudeness is frustration at being told everything is hunky dory and tickety-boo.

Police in general at football are w*nkers. I used to hold them in high regard and feel safe around them, now I just find most of them are jumped up arseh*les who just want it to kick off so they can beat people with their sticks.

Unnecessary attitude towards the fans on Friday agains the scum. All stand there like they want to literally bash your head in. At Palarse away, I remember two years ago, the treatment of these young lads who turned the wrong way was totally unjustified and the swearing and abuse they shouted was shocking.

They ruin the day out with all of the riot gear they wear as that really heightens the tension. Overkill on the amount of police and overkill on their attitudes too. F*ck them.

From what I saw of the behavior towards police they should count themselves fortunate they were not facing Italian/Spanish/German/French Police. Unfortunately in this country Police are so often targets. Remember going to watch Chelsea v Spurs and police horses separating fans were just spat at with Police just taking it.

I do not recognise the situation that has been described.

I have been told by my safety team, that there were no injuries reported during the evening.

What the fans want us to focus on, is climbing up the table, and progressing further in the FA Cup.

I will ask the safety manager to provide a full report.

We should wait for the report before leaping to unfounded conclusions.

The kindest thing you can say about them is at least they aren’t the Met. They are completely incompetent and unfit for purpose of course, but most things are nowadays due to funding cuts, strange priorities in which crimes to investigate and some very dubious vetting and recruitment.
