I walked from the Upper East as usual to the coach park but got mixed in with 5 Brighton yobs who pushed the police to their limit. The yobs, as that's what they were, were within a few metres of the Palace fans and 5 coppers, including a Sargent who knew quite a few swear words, just kept telling them to go away with slight nudges. My guess is it would be too much paperwork to arrest them but the yobs should feel very very lucky to get away with their behaviour and letting our name down. But it was good entertainment for us stood on the coach park hill watching it unfold for 15 minutes or so.
This wouldn't have worked because the south stand area was blocked by the Palace fans. Away fans are always released but then blocked by police. My guess is this puts a movable object in their way in case of problems rather than an immovable object like a shuuter which would cause a crush.
Add in loads from the East stand trying to walk down to the station not knowing there were barriers blocking the way. They then caused a big crowd that the folks leaving the North stand had to try and push their way through. As said before a steward with a loudhailer telling the East stand folks to turn round would have solved it or a couple of stewards stood outside East stand exits directing everyone round towards the south stand. Contrary to the club statement no one seemed to know what was going on for 10/15 minutes.
