NW family section exit via North stand? sounds like a crazy idea adding to the crush. I do find despite the need for the fan zone is it in the right area as it does seem to add to the bottleneck. At one point the area was to have a hotel i believe, where exactly was that gonna sit? Also if CP fans are held back why do our fans in the NW need to exit anywhere but where they normally do?

whatever DOES happen would be good if its communicated clearly in advance to all supporters.

My understanding of the crush that happened last time:

Those Brighton fans in the South-West Stand, West Stand Upper, West Stand Lower and North Stand who needed to get to the Park & Ride and Coach Park were directed clockwise past the North Stand and East Stand exits.

Meanwhile those Brighton fans exiting the East Upper, East Lower and North Stand who needed to get to the station or Bridge Car Park were moving in an anti-clockwise direction.

The stewards weren’t letting fans coming out of the East head to the station and had barriers in the way. The stewards insisted they went clockwise. Trouble was all the Palace fans were kettled outside the South stand so it wasn’t possible to go all the way round. Add in the fans heading clockwise from the north and west and it was terrible. Really just needed a steward with 2 brain cells to realise what was happening rather than just blindly following orders which were obviously causing a problem.

I don’t usually use the train or P&R, but from the West Stand usually exit the ground by going up the ramp behind the away team buses and along Village Way, so avoiding the away and and the stairs. Might be a quicker route to the P&R queue on this day in particular

My guess is the CP fans get kettled outside so the police are all ready to escort them to the station ready to catch the cattle truck back to Croyden. Presume this goes via Lewes.

I've been to every BHA v CPFC2010 game at the Amex (WSU), and can comprehensively state that, contrary to the posters statement, I have NEVER been held back after the game. Not once. Not even for 5 minutes.

What gives ?

We were all held back in the 3-0 game in the championship. Palace were banging on the exit shutters as they were filled past, WSL at the time.

I’ve experienced the same with England in Poland in about 2004, Police held the home fans and’ got rid’ of us.

Thank god a steward did eventually act and opened the main shutters in the North (east) exit, we almost ended up on the pitch. It stopped a crush that day. I can’t believe they are going to do it again.

We weren't held back in the East Stand that day. The last 6 or more games Palace been held back with Police horses outside away end whilst stairs to coach park cleared.

I'm sorry, but when I hear bobbins I'm going to call it. I've never experienced being held back inside the Amex whilst away fans are cleared.

What they did do, sometime after the game, was close the shutters and entrances to the West and North stands so that when they escorted the Palace fans, who had been held back, to the station, there was less likely to be aggro.

There were a lot of Albion fans in the concourses drinking and celebrating, and the police didn't want the two sets of fans getting at each other.

I think trouble is more likely pre-match especially as trains pull into Brighton station and contain a mix of fans. Then of course there is the walk from pub to Brighton Station and trying to keep fans apart boarding trains on to Falmer.

It is different in that 'we were all held back' is clearly untrue. I walked straight out after applauding the team at the final whistle with many thousands of Albion all around as I did all the other times we played them. Most Albion fans did the same. Some were unlucky as their egress was limited for the reasons @Bozza stated.

IIRC it wasn’t too much of an inconvenience, I walked into the norf from the east and by the time they pulled the shutters it was on the moochers with a pint in hand, a song in their heart and no real rush to go anywhere

All this bullshit hostility, this inconvenience, expense, time wasted. Just go to the bloody football match, enjoy the experience and drift off home again after exchanging a few friendly words of commiseration or congratulation with the opposition fans.

Some may say I’m a dreamer but I’m not the only one…

Just keep them locked in for 30mins and let home fans disperse initially. Then slowly enforce the one system for any leaving later...they do it to us.
