As regards to the incident and I’m no fan of Pep’s personality but i thought his sticking ex number of fingers up with a smile was a suitable humorous response to a bit of a funny dig by the Liverpool supporters ….obvs the media will want to big it up and maybe comments like the above only stir the pot

As fun as it is watching their free fall we all know they'll end up in 2nd or 3rd. Title is already gone.

We're well overperforming our expected points, even despite dropping points against Saints, Wolves, Ipswich and Forest.

The chasing pack has got larger and more competitive this year, but we are currently at the head of it. Another season of Europa League would be a great achievement, and if 5th place gets CL next year then that's the most realistic chance for us. We won't get there unless we manage to find a way to play well for an entire 90 minutes, instead of only a half at a time.

I don't understand why our fans get so bloody precious when pundits and managers aren't grouping us in with the rich 6 all the time. We have to be up there and competing longer term for that, and we haven't yet.

I think I remember either Steve McLaren or Ian Holloway complaining that we lacked respect after they received a rendition of that song from the Amex.

It was either McLaren at Derby after a 3-0 defeat or Holloway when he was at QPR.

It might even have been both.
You just know if he loses the next game he’s getting it louder and longer, poor old pep will being punching himself in the face before long.

The title hasn’t gone at all loads of points to play for and time for injuries to key Liverpool players.
This season seems to have been decided over 12 games by the media, all a bit ridiculous.

They will still go on a brilliant run in the new year.

Certainly not over.

Since when did people – especially opposition managers – treat chants from the fans as some kind of gospel?

"You're going home in a Sussex ambulance." No, you're almost certainly not.
"We're by far the greatest team the world has ever seen." Debatable
"You're only here for the [insert name of team whose fans are signing it]." No, I'm here because I go to ALL the home games.
"Stevie Coppel's got VD." I'm not sure he has and, if you've got access to his medical records, I'd keep quiet if you don't want to get in trouble.
"Do do do do, Facking useless." Clearly not – it's a professional footballer, playing at the highest level. They are probably even just a bit higher than useless.

Etc, etc.

Not unless it's the Sussex Senior Challenge Cup we're not

Pep is facing a bit of unknown territory for him. Its very easy to be gracious and nice about the opposition teams, managers and fans when all the opposition wants to do is keep the score against them under 5.
Pep has history with us , basically wanking over GP and BHA up to the point they lost against us, and then he was very upset that GP was excited and celebrating.

This is more of the same, he is very unused to teams not being frightened of his world beaters and its taking him time to adjust to the new (and probably temporary ) situation of his team not only not winning, but loosing week in , week out. Something almost every other manager in the Prem has experience of

I for one, am interested in how City react , as most of their players aren't used to this either. Haaland especially looks like he doesnt understand that other teams have realised they are allowed to take the ball away from him, he looks clueless when he has to hold up the ball, defend, and not simply put it in the net. It shows even more that while not exactly a one trick pony, his game is somewhat lacking defensively. Foden also looked on the verge of tears as he put in a particularly ineffective display. Pep has his work cut out to raise this city team, and we will see if he is the manager the press have us believe or not

Watched it. He said the whole thing with a smile on his face and was quite chilled about it. The text alone doesn't give the context of it really. Considering his team are crumbling he's actually appearing to be really quite calm.

Nothing to see really

A manager who has always had literally the best players in the World at his disposal.
And he still has.
Most of us on here could have managed Barcelona to a Champions League win or City to a Premier League Title
One injury and his team is a mess
Poor loser managing a cheating club. Anyone with an ounce of integrity would have walked away once they found out just how pathetic and whinging and rule breaking that club is.
But I suppose if you’re pathetic and whinging too 👍

Man City just about backable now e/w @ 8/1 (2 places) for the EPL title. Liverpool will hit a sticky patch. And Arsenal will bottle it, same as they always do. And the Albion? Totally in the hands of the BHAFC sports psychologists v teams in the lower reaches of the league rocking up at the Amex

I think most of us realise that at some point he’ll pull out of the nosedive, and so are enjoying this for what it is, a temporary deviation from the norm.

Pep works very hard to preserve an image of self-control and authority, so it’s difficult to not take a teensy bit of pleasure in him/his team having to struggle like the rest of us for a bit.

It’s nice to see that under the polished dome there’s the same biases and weaknesses as the rest of us. He won’t stop being a talented football manager, but I do wonder how you regain an aura of invincibility once you’ve lost it, however temporarily.

Is this the start of a Mourinho-like path of diminishing returns?

Not yet. He hasn't called the Arsenal manager a pervert.

(Maureen was weird. Pep is merely odd.)
