Am not a labour votor but after last government they have every chance. They have the time 200 majority Just have to have the balls to make decisions and not try to take middle ground all the time to try and please everbody. So much in there favour Unlike last government, No Brexit no Covid and hopefully interest rates on the way down. Just need Ukraine war to end
Unfortunately with all the inflationary moves so far, ie increasing wages, increasing employment costs, interest rates are probably more likely to rise sooner rather than later.

Edit - oh look, inflation up to 2.3% already.

Everyone who voted yes: Labour fan boys who would say yes whatever happened
Everyone who voted no: Tory fan boys who would say no whatever happened
Everyone who voted fence: The sensible people in the middle, where most of the county sit.

How anybody can seriously confidently predict yes or no after 4 months, I have no idea. Presumably they are the same people that write off a 19 year old international striker who has scored hat-tricks in the Premier League.
You missed the “gut feeling” question in the OP?

You are also suggesting that 50% of NSC are Tory fan boys, not sure the pre election polls on here would back that up.

Everyone who never votes in NSC polls: Still scarred from that Mantis Shrimp fiasco.

If this the case (and I’m hoping it is) then do you think they’d need to build the groundwork in their first term by floating the idea to the public? Or would this be so catastrophic to their re-election prospects that they daren’t? Because otherwise they’ve only potentially got the 4 years of their second term to do it start to finish - by it I mean pitch it to the electorate/parliament, campaign, produce figures, negotiate/beg the EU basically from scratch, and all the other variables
A great question.

I haven't given it much thought, but I suspect they'd need to hint at "closer ties" and hope the Tories are still an unelectable mess.

I actually appreciated @Pavilionaire ’s views on this. The messaging has been poor, IMHO showing a lack of experience and control. The Sue Gray situation was bad optics. There is a need for change, but I have serious question marks over the implementation of two of their major decisions since July (WFH primarily but also farmers now).

I think Pavilionaire used the term “grow up”. I have to agree.
Which is interesting as i used to see posts referring to ‘’now the grown ups are in charge’’

They've turbo charged all the crap policies the tories had so its going to be faster down hill.
I thought you’d be pleased the Home Office is actually processing asylum seekers, instead of hoarding them in hotel chains owned by ‘mates’.

I don't think they can fail in the eyes of some on here. Everything negative that happens will be because of Brexit not Labour policies. There could be a worldwide fuel crisis pushing petrol & diesel up to £3 a litre but still it will be Brexit. Or another lockdown due to a pandemic costing the economy hundreds of billions but still it will be Brexit. So far Labour have been even worse then I expected. Usual tax & spend & politics of envy. Not that the last lot were any better. Just glad I'm old so I won't be around in a few years. This country is going downhill so fast. At least I moved out of London I guess. Things are a lot better in the small towns and villages but probably not for long.

Regretfully not until Labour risks an ever-decreasing amount of political capital by grasping the nettle of Customs Union/Single Market/EU rejoining.

Until such a time, any initiatives will be done with one hand tied behind their back which they could, at any time, untie if they were motivated to do so.

But for now, sadly it's a case of self-preservation over nation.

It won’t be long, Londoners move out to the shires and turn the shires into London, then the locals will move out and so it’s repeated ffs
I did come from Hailsham originally so I moved back. Hopefully that makes me still a local! Not sure where the locals will move out to though! Hungary is my choice but the language is a tough nut to crack!

I think no, unfortunately, for two reasons really. Firstly because a Labour government is held to a higher standard than a Tory one so the steady drip feed of negative press will turn sentiment against them quickly, and secondly turning around the country from the absolute mess of Tory governance will take longer than the electorate will have patience for so they'll have be deemed to have failed before there's really been an opportunity to make a tangible difference. Also, until we rejoin the EU all any government will be able to do is play around the edges and hope for conditions that make things less worse than they could be rather than actually objectively any better.

And seeing as you posted the link, i’ll assume (dangerous i know) that you believe the numbers then?
Until someone says it’s not true, why not? I’ve posted a direct link which states charter flights to Nigeria and Ghana.
