Email just received from the club to North Stand season tickets asking for views of safe standing from the 25/26 season.
Regardless of where you sit / are a STH etc, what are your views on this?

Sorry mods, I did a (poor) search for an existing thread before I posted. Feel free to merge with the one just bumped if necessary!

Happy to vote to formalise safe standing in the North (as opposed to the informal safe standing we currently have). Just don't make me move seats. PBOBE will say no to safe standing tho cos it will mean somebody having to take a hit on their budget for no measurably net gain, despite the EPL millions currently sloshing around the club

I thought they proved you gain money by getting more in?

I am a fan of the safe standing rails in areas where standing occurs anyway, always nice to have something to lean on. I view it more as a comfort issue than an atmosphere, increasing capacity issue. I'm in the WSU but I'd be more than happy to see safe-standing in the North Stand.

Will just be the existing seats with some kind of zimmer frame contraption up front no?

*edit* might conceivably work in some fantasy future reworking of a 'hostile' South Stand. Probably not tho eh?

Leaving the expense aside (which is probably prohibitive) I thought turning the south into safe standing would be a good idea as part of creating a new group of people who want to create atmosphere. The advantage over the north would be that no existing season ticket holder would have their nose put out of joint if they lose their actual seat and everyone making the move to the south would know what is expected of them and the current divisions would be lost.

The whole of the Norff is standing anyway isn't it?
But as @Tom Hark Preston Park pointed out it's only the de facto rule. Technically, you're not allowed to stand in the North Stand as it's a designated seating area. Both you and the club could be punished. Also I'm pretty sure there are a few NS inhabitants who would like to see the rules properly enforced.

If they do bring in Safe Standing it would at least legitimise the practice and then everybody knows where they, er, .... stand.

FWIW one of the questions in the survey is how often do you stand anyway.

Just make the back half of the North and the whole of the South safe standing (when the away fans move). They want to improve the atmosphere (which presumably will have some tangible financial benefit if it improves the success of the team) and this is the best way the club can actively do it. Get a proper singing area at both ends of the stadium.

I voted no, I stand all game every game anyway, but if it means the club do not face legal consequences then I would not be against. I just don't like the restrictions of cold steel barriers in front and behind me which will restricted movement of fans out the aisles 10 minutes before half time and full time as people leave.
