He got absolutely f***ing banjoed at Chelsea when we destroyed them 2-1 at the Bridge. He was virtually unplayable that day and he has not been the same since. Injury & loss of confidence go hand in hand especially with a VERY young player. He’s coming back and starting to look sharp again.
Maybe a short spell in the U21’s, to get his mojo back…
Whatever it takes tbh. I don't know if its a fitness thing, or a confidence thing, but right now he is not looking like a Premier League striker any more.

Guess there's no predetermined time it takes a relative youngster to recover form and confidence after having had to work under a manager who supposedly didn't rate him, illness and a significant ankle injury and operation. Sure the club are doing the right thing
Nah, I'm not having that. He's not another Connolly. He's clearly a proper professional footballer, not a nightclub dickhead. He's had some long term injuries and a fallow spell. I do think he can get back to where he was a year ago though, he has the talent and the attitude. But he needs to start showing it soon.
Yes, all fair observations. My concern is this is such an unforgiving League, its tough to carry youngsters finding their feet particularly up front. Evan has showed already he has the talent and the tools, I'm desperate to see him get back to that.
I detailed on here the timescale of his various injuries/illnesses a little while ago ( I don't remember exactly when but within the last few months). I'm sure if you use the search function it will come up.
Yeah. I hate bashing young players so wouldn' type that myself, but can't deny that's exactly what I was thinking during the match.
Don’t see this myself. Ferguson is hardly competition; his career is on an Arron Connolly style trajectory at the moment.
Players can take time to get "match fit" but sometimes you have to do that by sheer effort. He's lacking that in spades evidenced by the fact he's the last one in the box, way behind the play and not attempting to close down the opposition. He's waiting for something to happen not influencing it. I'd take him to one side show him the video of Saturday and ask him way he wasn't busting a gut to get in the correct positions.
Lot of people saying same thing. So so strange. Maybe he just doesn't want to play football. Looks the same for Ireland barely busting a gut. Yet seems to be very humble in person.
My theory would be that he actually can’t run about that much at the moment. I suspect his has limited stamina still (after glandular fever) and that his fitness levels have not returned in full.
Management will very likely be going through the whole game with him…….he also has direct access to clips of all his actions.
Yeah I need to pull you up on your last statement, LOTS of fans were talking about this at the game on Saturday, I heard no one hoping he would fail, or even getting on his back, it was all ‘supportive’ it’s just that we’re not blind.
