It is what it is.I thought Potter was a shoo-in really. Surprised.

The players represent England. Clearly they should have English qualification. Why does the nationality of the manager mean less than the nationality of the players?
I think the opinions of England "fans" who are only interested when we play in tournaments are irrelevant. It looks like I'm in a minority here, but I genuinely couldn't care less about the nationality of the England manager. I am 100% an England fan at major tournaments and nothing in between. So as long as the manager makes England do well in those tournaments, great.
Having a German as a manager is irrelevant, in my opinion. Most Germans I know (and it's a fair few though work) view the "rivalry" with England as quite cute. Kinda like when Crawley cropped up recently and started gobbing off about being rivals after the EFL Cup game. Germany's rivals are the Netherlands, France and Italy. England have a rivalry with Germany, Germany don't have a rivalry with England.
I actually quite like the idea of a German Brighton manager and a German England manager at the same time.
So you dont think the manager of England represents England? The players represent England. Clearly they should have English qualification.
Those around the team (manager, assistants, physios, kit men, psychologists, data analysts, etc.) can be any nationality.
IMHO, like.
Not in the same way the players do.So you dont think the manager of England represents England?
I disagree. The big nations should stick to their own. Otherwise it's not a true reflection of the ability of a country. England aside, this is largely the case. The players represent England. Clearly they should have English qualification.

How do you feel about Brighton?A German in charge of our national team. No way. End of.
I want the best English qualified players on the pitch, and the best people off it.I disagree. The big nations should stick to their own. Otherwise it's not a true reflection of the ability of a country. England aside, this is largely the case.
Great comparison. How do you feel about Brighton?
'Why is it what it is? Why isn't it what it isn't?' - Han Solo.It is what it is.
I thought he was in the running because I thought they were picking a manager from England, and there's very few English managers with a better CV than Potter.Back to the Potter thing – I have no idea why people thought he might be in the frame for the England job. The only thing on his CV that would have been in his favour was the word "available".
(This isn't anti-Potter vitriol, by the way. I'm pretty much over all that. I'm genuinely trying to be objective.)
I can't believe some people are trying to back up their points with club football comparisons.Great comparison.
I guess you'd have no issues if the English national team was filled with players from South America, France, Germany, Netherlands etc. then? Because thats how it is as Brighton.
Players are bought unlike national players.Great comparison.

So it’s not his nationality you object it, but TT himself?I can't believe some people are trying to back up their points with club football comparisons.
The England team is representing the country and should have English players and an English Manager.
That said, if it had been Klopp (another German) or Pep I'd have been a lot more comfortable with it than Tuchel.
Anyone but Tuchel.
And national teams represent nations, unlike clubs. Meaning national teams and club teams are different, yet you compare Brighton appointing Hurz with England appointing Tuchel.Players are bought unlike national players.
