I wonder if nine years was the product of our prisons currently being full to the brim?

If they weren't full up, would he have had a stiffer sentence?

I see by your use of capitalisation you subscribe to the Trump school of social media posting.... athough you haven't yet quite got the hang of it....

For maximum effect you should have perhaps also capitalised the words TERRORISTS, SPIT, PISS, SHIT, FOOD, TUCKED, and BEDS.

If you had done perhaps you might have been taken a little more seriously rather than having had to endure the mockery and disdain which you have.

REMEMBER, THE CAPS LOCK IS YOUR FRIEND.
Nah he can't copy Trump's style too much, lest he be accused of being some sort of conformist.

The maximum sentence for arson with intent to kill is life, which generally means 10 years.

Jesus I’m no fan of NSC’s one remaining racist but at what point did it turn into MumsNet for White Supremacy?

Responding to my post by rudely calling my valid points ‘blah blah blah, isn’t a fair comment - @cunning fergus’s reply to the specific and factual points I raised in my previous response to him was to post a bunch of conspiracy theories that had little to do with the post he quoted as I said above.

It’s not me that posted a load of ‘blah blah blah’ 🤷🏻‍♂️

(Although I suspect the rest of your post you were being ironic.)
You got a blah, blah, blah because you missed, as expected, the “principal point” of how this avant garde of “mentally ill” terrorists running around randomly stabbing the citizenry these days is likely to be perceived by the general public, and I would wager that it’s not that they are a) mentally ill and b) should be sent to a secure hospital.

It is not a conspiracy theory to suggest that trust in politicians and the media are at an all time low. No matter though, this is only a football fans forum.

One last point, if my use of blah, blah, blah was rude then I sincerely apologise, you seem like a nice boy, an earnest type, with sensible shoes, your hair brushed and parted.

There are some other rougher types on here, less friendly, really long memories, Olympic standard in grammar, you may need to toughen up as they will take your library card off you and steal your dinner money without a thought. Enjoy your weekend.

One minute a poster thinks he is Tommy Robinson and acting out right wing racist hoolie fantasies, the next trying to be an intellectual, the Jordan Peterson stylee racist who can spell correctly and write long posts, he then morphs into TrumpIan style rants with lots of RANDOM words in CAPITALS.

I am concerned that such a poster may have mental health issues in the form of multiple personalities and deserves sympathy rather than mockery so please stop it NSC.
No, on the contrary this interest in me, from the likes of you and others on this football fans forum is fascinating, you know so much…….my name (nearly there) what I do and how I think etc.

As Oliver Wilde said, there is only one thing worse in life than being talked about, and that is not being talked about.

True dat.

I didn’t ‘miss’ your points, I responded to each of your points specifically, addressing the factual inconsistencies you posted about the role of mental institutions and the law on criminal liability. These were points you raised initially but which you then subsequently morphed into broader issues about Grenfell and the PO and yep, tin hat worthy comments in your follow up about mental health.

The suggestion that the Government are behind a plan to deem all terrorists as ‘mental health’ sufferers and therefore should avoid criminal culpability as a means to “rig the deck” (whatever that means) is just unsupported by the facts and I would suggest that your own perception that this is how the ‘public’ thinks is more a reflection of you own ideas rather than the ‘public’ opinion you are purporting to represent with these views.

Just to be clear (again) the ‘Government’ doesn’t control day to day judicial sentencing or the CPS - it is up to judges/lawyers with the expert help of psychiatrists to argue a case for insanity or diminished responsibility.

I do however agree with the point you made above - ‘trust in politicians and the media’ are very low but I would suggest it reached rock bottom before Starmer took over, towards the end of 14 years of sleaze and lies propagated under a Tory Government and the flooding of social media with far right ideology and fake news in recent years.

(I thought your characterisation of the ‘rougher types’ on NSC and me with brushed, parted hair very amusing btw 🙂)

Whilst you are evidently confident that our Government (and its associated institutional organs) would not use “mental illness” as means to skew the underlying motives of murderous terrorists et al, there are no facts either of us can bring to bear that unequivocally prove one of us is correct.

I can, however, point to numerous instances in the past that demonstrate how Governments’ rig the deck with the underlying general public on matters where they wish to control narratives and it’s sadly a case where past performance is a good measure for future performance.

Notwithstanding the PO and Grenfell case, I think the handling of Brexit and the Pandemic have both left deep wounds concerning how trust in politicians (and the media) is perceived by the general public. Starmer’s attitude to both subjects are cases where his judgement wont be trusted by the wider public, outside his fan base.

I don’t doubt that mental illness plays a part in whatever gravely heinous crime individuals commit, however, it’s definitely a more helpful play for a
Government wanting to keep the lid on public order to (say) the motive of mass stabbing event is due to mental illness than one where the individual wants to kill non believers of his or her particular cult. The fallout of Southport and the subject of this thread is proof of that.

(Thanks, if you are going to chuck the old tin foil hat trope about on here, you may want to change your footnote)

And which particular cult are you saying influenced the Southport stabbings? And what's your proof for that?

Are you still twitching every time a non-white gets on your train with a backpack?

Most attacks are carried out by wannabe roadmen with Father issues and a couple of bags of weed they’re trying to flog on someone else’s patch.

. Not religious fundamentalists.

He didn’t answer my question about cronyism and contracts doled out to Tory donors either.

I think it's perfectly healthy to have scepticism about what Politicians say, if only more people applied some to the things Farage says, maybe the fallout from Southport would not have been so severe.

There is a problem with trust and misinformation, but it seems to me like you have swallowed a chunk of bullshit. Maybe apply some of that healthy scepticism a bit more widely.

Sky News reports on the social media accounts behind the riots in Southport - and they were not primarily based in the UK according to the director of an open source intelligence set-up that assisted Sky with their investigation:

“What it shows is the nature of the new far-right - not a tightly organised hierarchy based in a specific location, but an international network of influencers and followers, working together almost like a swarm to stir up trouble.”

"But when I describe the groups that were influencing the tactics and the targets of the rioters, these are fully paid-up neo-Nazis who want to see the extermination of non-white people."
