Appalling treatment of tennis great

Shocking, absolutely shocking. You think they'd treat one of their own greatest players who has contributed so much over the years so much better than this....

In a fair world both of them would be playing in the men's tournament

As far as I know most of the time allocation of court is based on seedings... unless its a home player. Considering the seedings of the Williams sisters is quite low this year it doesn't soudn that strange.

Since when did we support favouritism? That sounds a very Unalbion attitude.

I think she is an arrogant yank for assuming both her and her sister MUST go on the show courts, there are NOT major seeds, only 7th and 23rd.

She's black, she's only going to get onto Centre Court for the final and even then they'll be a net between her and her opponent. Nat King Cole used to have to perform with a net on stage between him and white performers back in the day and it doesn't appear that things have moved on at Wimbledon 2012.

Unbelievable. The third biggest court, still holding 4,000 people and it's a brand new build. She's the number 7 seed.

She's had a bit of an up and down week with her comments... I quite liked her comments on the restaurant that caused her serious injury, but then she came out with bizarre comments about it being hard living in Europe as it means she doesn't have access to the latest technology like they have in America.

Just... odd.

It's a completely unjustified moan - she was on Court 2 FFS not Court 15 or similar!

The running order for Centre Court yesterday;
Gentlemen's Singles - 2nd Round
Robin Soderling(SWE)[5] def. Lleyton Hewitt(AUS)
6-7(5) 3-6 7-5 6-4 6-4

Ladies' Singles - 2nd Round
Sabine Lisicki(GER) def. Na Li(CHN)[3]
3-6 6-4 8-6

Gentlemen's Singles - 2nd Round
Roger Federer(SUI)[3] def. Adrian Mannarino(FRA)
6-2 6-3 6-2

Number 1 Court;
Gentlemen's Singles - 2nd Round
Novak Djokovic(SRB)[2] def. Kevin Anderson(RSA)
6-3 6-4 6-2

Gentlemen's Singles - 2nd Round
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga(FRA)[12] def. Grigor Dimitrov(BUL)
6-7(4) 6-4 6-4 7-6(8)

Ladies' Singles - 2nd Round
Laura Robson(GBR) vs. Maria Sharapova(RUS)[5]

Who exactly does she think she should be ahead of? And that's without taking account of the fact that the Williams sisters' both play boring tennis, and the woman's game isn't in great shape at the moment across the board.

Given that she is the defending champion I think she has a case for being ahead of the Tsonga match to be fair, but looking at the other matches that were played (or scheduled) for yesterday, they deserved to be on centre court or court 1.

History doesn't give you a divine right to play on a show court - if there are rising stars or more currently in form players that have more crowd appeal or there are simply more intriguing matches going on then you have to expect the more in-demand matches to be granted a bigger capacity court.

I think she is an arrogant yank for assuming both her and her sister MUST go on the show courts, there are NOT major seeds, only 7th and 23rd.

This, Serena made herself look incredibly stupid yesterday. Her ranking at this years tournament is 7, which is already massively inflated from her WTA ranking of 25, and even more from her WTA race ranking of 349. She has only played two matches all year prior to Wimbledon (won one lost one). Add in the fact that the two women's matches on Centre and One both featured higher ranked players (3 and 5) including the current French champion and Australian runner up. If anything the seeds 8-25 all have a justifiable right to question why Serena has been allowed to increase her ranking so much. Incidently Daniela Hantuchova (this years 25th seed, which should be Serena's seeding) is appearing on Centre Court today.

As for the WTA chief getting involved, only one fact needs to be used to discredit the entire notion that women are less favoured. Mens number 7 seed David Ferrer is scheduled to appear second on, you guessed it, Court number 2.

She should get over herself. I think they should put her on one of the outside courts for a laugh.
