Don't forget the current £58m they currently owe!

No I had not forgotton that, I just wondered if they were allowed to function at a really basic level (like last night) with any profit outside the wages, basic running costs going to creditors. Or is it just a question of buyer or bust.

That was more to do with a guarantee that we'd be coming back to Brighton wasn't it?

As I remember the £500k bond lodged with the FL (which was non refundable in the case of any points deductions for pitch invasions etc) was a guarantee that the Albion would complete all the fixtures for the season. The secondary element was a commitment to return to Brighton.

But the club's former owner has pulled out of the purchase, leaving the Pompey Supporters' Trust as the only hope[/I]

Fans United 54 anyone?

Comment From Perplexed Pompey Paul
There must be investers out there with enough funds. Pompey is such a great club they could turn this around we could be playing in Europe in a few years

Do you think this bloke , Perplexed Pompey Paul is distantly related to Seaside ???

The name gives it away
Think its all being discussed at a Football League management meeting tomorrow about what to do. Hope the FL have grown a pair and do the right thing but my guess is that they will fudge the whole thing again.

Should be an interesting meeting. Apart from the problem of no money and owing tons to all and sundry Pompey are going to ask that the 10 points deduction be withdrawn, (yes really), and that they be allowed to sign players again.

Lets put it to the vote shall we? All those in favour........

The FL should set a Friday 5pm deadline , if ownership isn't sorted out and all the paperwork signed the club is expelled.

errr, I remember how thankful, and relieved, WE were for one!

Which one are you talking about? Stanley?

Pompey is a basket case, I can't see it being saved long term so all it will do is prolong the inevitable.

I cannot see how the situation at Pompey can be condoned, let alone allow them to make the financial situation worse by staggering on - but I bet the Football League bottle it or at least come up with some sort of fudged compromise.

A post on the local paper website:

This whole saga is making PFC sound more and more like an old and decrepid family pet. You can't put it down because the kids will be upset, but the vet bills are just getting too much. It's been mauled by other dogs down the park repeatedly, its kidneys are shot, most of its hair has fallen out, and the broken leg it incurred a few years back has never healed properly. But you just can't say goodbye, because of all the happy memories it's given you.
Sorry for the pessimistic metaphor, but perhaps the time has come to put it down, and invest in a new puppy who'll dump in the house, and generally be rubbish for a bit, but just might in time help us forget about all the good times the old mutt has given. It's just too riddled with worms.

Almost makes you feel sorry for them. Almost ...
