But he was very poor last night. No excuse for the goal. The commentary team were too busy having a group wank over Ronaldo, to actually mention Theodore's part in it.
He was indeed caught napping as Ronaldo darted in front of him, but with the amount of possession the Portugese were getting someone was always eventually going to f*** up. I thought he had a very poor second half but looked decent enough in the first.

For me, the game turned when Coentrao started to go wide down the left flank. With Gebre Selassie man marking Ronaldo, they just had no cover.

To be fair, he was probably absolutely shattered, having just about managed to keep out the 2nd best player in the world (tm) for 79 minutes.

Ronaldo was only 'kept out' insofar as two of his shots hit the outside rather than inside of the post'.

But that's an aside. I'm not judging his performance solely on how he dealt with Ronaldo. He made lots of mistakes.

When he picked up the ball at rb in the first half and ran it into the middle, under no pressure whatsoever, and miscontrolled it staright to Postiga - was that because of Ronaldo too?

And despite what Simster says, he was NOT tasked with man marking him. Theodore was simply playing right-back, that's all
Right. Title winning defender Lee Dixon says he was, (along with World cup winning Juergen Kinnsmann), hkfc says he wasn't.

Fábio Coentrão. Now THAT is a full back. OUTSTANDING footballer.

True. Everyone bar Ashley Cole seems to.

But it wasn't just Ronaldo he struggled with last night. And despite what Simster says, he was NOT tasked with man marking him. Theodore was simply playing right-back, that's all - which obviously put him up v Ronaldo for a lot of the game. When Ronaldo and Nani swapped flanks though, Theo wasn't sent across with him.

I reckon even Caldy might have a hard time marking Nani.

To be fair, nobody in the Czech side last night looked good and half the Portugal side were utter dogshit. Apart from the odd player and Ronaldo that game was terrible.

I don't watch the drivel after the game, so couldn't tell you what they said. Dixon is normally pretty good though. Fact remains though, Theodore played right back. When Ronaldo was on the left, he was obviously marking him. When Nani swapped, he was marking him.

Can't argue with that.

Call me CRAZY, but I think tonight's going to go one of TWO ways;

Germany score in first 25-30mins - they will DESTROY Greece 4 or 5-0.

Germany don't score in first 25-30mins - Greece will take it to extra time...

2-0 Germany. Two earlyish goals, then Germasn sit and soak it up effortlessly. Dull second half.

Possibly 1 greek red card.

Thought he was central midfield? Is he available on a free and would he take a cut in wages to play for a club with outstanding potential?

A Greek win is wishful thinking. They're considerably worse at holding the ball up than England are and have no real goal threat. Germany on the other hand are a quality outfit who will probably win the tournament as they are due a win - it's been four years now since they last got to a final.

You'd have to ask Jose Mourinho....

You can't arue with Jose's results, but its INCREDIBLE that Coentrão is not first choice in that Real Madrid side.

I agree he's been excellent this tournament but he did have a poor season at Real. His defending at times was really not good. Still young though so will only improve.

Part of the problem at Real, though is that Mourinho keeps moving him between positions. I've never seen him have a poor game at full-back.
