What's the fastest you've driven on a UK road?

My sierra 2 litre did 120 once in teh M25 and my current Megane has to be reigned back as it goes over 100!!!

One evening game ( Hudds vs Bournemouth ) some years ago, I did Bournemout Brighton just on a hour in a Triumph Acclaim( twin carboretta, light as a feather and seriously quick)

Fastest with me driving it was off the clock in my Mr2 but my passenger reckoned the dial would've been over 130 if there'd been nembers there. First and definately last time i'd do that on the road! :nono: Was heading down a dual carraigeway and up ahead there was a mondeo sitting behind an ambulance. He must have been sitting behind him with no intention of overtaking for at least the 10-15 seconds that i could see him. That was until i was about 30 yards behind him traveling twice as fast when he decided to overtake!

The only reason we didn't crash was cos he suddenly realised and jolted his car back in. I've never been so scared in my life & never do more than a ton now, i learned my lesson and am lucky to be here to tell the tale!

I wonder if we look on the Naseem Hamed thread if the same people who were calling him every name under the sun are the same as on this thread who are now boasting doing the same thing, just with better luck

I don't speed on public roads anymore - its not big and not clever (besides my car's top speed is about 65mph  :lolol: ) and I'm not owning up to having driven fast in the past down the M23 - it was a hire car and I was busting ;)

on a race track however things are quite different...

Big difference Gazwag between driving very fast and overtaking on a double white line on the brow of a hill (or blind bend, can't remember which it was). Hamed is a **** who deserved to kill himself!

back in my youger days, both on 2-wheels:

Fastest speeding ticket was 127mph on the M27 going to Thruxton on a 900 Honda - circa 1979

clocked at 153mph by a cop car on Maderia Drive going past Penny Wonderland - fortunately I was competing in the Brghton Speed Trials and they were only testing they new Vascar kit - circa 1983

Having lost my licence for 3 speeding offences in 1979 I now pay much more attention to my speed - oh and I don't ride/race bikes anymore either .....

I'm not sure it really is THAT big a difference, IMHO - those pesky hills or bridges come up on you pretty quickly if you're going way too fast.

140 in a v6 3 litre Alfa, the steering feels very light at that speed and it quite a c***ish thing to do, long time ago is my only defence. It was on a nigh deserted motorway up North. I realised what a prat I was when someone pulled out in front of me and I almost wiped us both out. The guy could not have known or expected someone to be coming up on him at that speed.

Just over 140mph whilst on my police driving course. On the same day I also set off 4 gatso cameras  all in the name of training though.

Generally I'm a plodder (pardon the pun) in my own car but on Blues & twos I won't usually do more than twice the limit.

I'm thinking of transferring to Traffic next year and wouldn't mind a spin in the unmarked Evo 8!!

Did just over 140mph on an Autoroute in Belgium recently, which concentrates the mind when somebody pulls out in front of you to overtake.
