What's the fastest you've driven on a UK road?

126 in a mates car late at night on a mororway, when a driver in front just stopped, just stopped for no reason, we braked to a sudden............................. halt well 10-30 seconds later. And were inches away from a massive pile up. It didn't and still doesn't bother me but my mate...he doesn't drive flash any more!

'bout 145 up the Lewes bypass on a yamaha FZR 600.

I got pulled on the A11 at 120 once on my Kwak Z550 by an unmarked police car.
He said, do you know how fast you were going?
...and before I knew it, I said; "No officer, at that speed I was keeping my eyes on the road, not the speedo".

He struggled to keep a straight face, kept me talking for 10 minutes, and let me off!

Oh, and in a car, 125 flat out in a Renault 5 turbo up the M1.
I got passed by a Mk1 escort with two big exhausts out the back, with a police car in hot pursuit.
The police car could only stop one of us, so the poor escort copped it.
They gave me a filthy look and lots of hand gestures as they passed though.
I awaited a postal summons for weeks, but it never came.

brighton, actually
was an unwitting passenger in a trans-am, which topped 120 over shoreham flyover many years ago, returninglate at night after some car rally.

the driver only eased off (even more speed possible?!), after we all begged him to stop being a pillock.

a change of pants were in order.

On the ocean wave
Got back from Southend early doors for a night on the lash a few years back. f*** me I really floored it. Bit naughty but I had to get down the Hove Place for some wife beater.

Ask Stubbsy what it's like to be a passenger. He'll probably tell you about my famous U-Turn on the M27 after I missed the turning for S'fampton last xmas. (Still got there well early I might add, even after seeing the New Forest ponies!)

Way out west
Only 100 or so in any of the cars I have owned, regardless of their top speed. My fastest ever was about 15 years ago, 120 in Southern Belgium in a Ford Orion, at least that was what it said on the clock. I have since owned a couple of cars capable of higher speeds but haven't had the inclination to test them to the limit.

120 mph BMW 318i. I've not driven that fast for ages though, as I'm now a boring Volvo driver

For all those casually boasting about breaking the speed limit so much, you'd do well to remember the guy in Cumbria who got nicked earlier in the year for doing likewise on a website - the police used it as evidence and successfully procescuted! It's very hard to take back when you've put it in writing!

About 115 driving up to Manchester. Didn't even realise until I looked at the speedometer. Slowed down straight away.

MMmmmm some twat was trying to break the land speed record on the A275 between Lewes and Chailey when I was driving home on Wednesday. He lost control on a bend and drove into a school bus. Lucky injured just himself seriously and none on the bus. The Police closed the road as I came round the corner and I got stuck in the diverted traffic for about 20 minutes, with cars driving all over the place trying to find a back route to rejoin the A275 after Chailey!

The A275 is a nice bendy road, but some people juist ignore all the 40 MPH signs on the dangerous bits. I dont have a problem with people driving fast on motorways, but on these minor roads its madness!

MMm showing my age now and not being impressed by people driving fast!!!!!

Went to Brizzle Rovers away in the evening and was back at home by midnight including a 20 minute stop in mid sussex once. Needless to say the driver had a new executive Skoda and one of those radar things in the car.
